Sooooo after I had to reach back out to MSD they're telling me, literally in as few words ‘it's your HEI' Apparently HEI's put out a weak tach signal and that's MAYBE what's causing my issue. So I can run an MSD 6A type box...or something. We'll see if I act on this. If I'm changing up...

Likely won't get abused, unless you are doing so bizarre departure angle things. The reason I don't like an under mounted spare is....it could be kinda tough to get at in the event you need it in a trail.

thats kind of what I did last time. My engine had a bunch of bottom end noise "well, i just need a runner that i can use until i build my original engine" Went and picked up one from a 1987 grand wag with 155k on the odometer for $225. "This should work" and dropped it in the wag and put the...

    Dice...... The 1978 Jeep Wagoneer

there are a number of after market bumpers available now (SBF has been working with BJ's), I debated loooooong about what to do. For a while I just had my spare tire laying down underneath a cargo cover I made, but got sick of losing storage be haing some unusable space under the cargo cover...

DO NOT buy any "new" manual tailgate system, the currently produced ones are absolute junk and will strip out ASAP. for a few bucks in wiring and relays you'll be able to put in a fool proof system. http://www.fsjnetwork.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13549

    Dice...... The 1978 Jeep Wagoneer

Looks like you got a really solid rig to start with, which is good. Yes, 354's were common in those years, 307's being the other regularly available option. I'm running 354's on my 73, with 33's, and its fine on its own but put any weight behind it and hills get slow. Your recently rebuilt...

Also, as of late, these past few years struggling with the carb, and now struggling with the fuel injection, and still struggling with all the other crap you struggle with on a 40 year old truck, I'm pretty much "over it". I've been looking at a number of other options, and recently found a...

Well, the 1974 is gone off to a new family who will build it into a camping rig to enjoy. In the meantime, I've driven mine a little and It's been getting more difficult and more trying with the EFI. The cutting out and whatnot seems like it's worse than before. Not quite sure what to do at...
