Awesome. I used a NP241 from a Dodge in my last FJ55 with a 4BT conversion. I used the 23 spline version and it bolted right up to a NV4500. I loved the 2.73 low range -- about perfect. The Dodge versions come with a non slip yoke rear (someone makes a kit for a Chevy NP241). I agree about...
It's cheaper than new. A new HZJ79 is $43,000 in Nicaragua. This is the #1 reason they weren't imported here rather than EPA/NHTSA, because it s hard to compete against something like a Ford Truck for around this price as well. There just aren't many applications in the real world in the USA...
Sounds good! Definitely always consider yourselves welcome and hopefully we can make it happen. Again it would be a great pleasure of mine to show some of you guys around the area and Utah!
Very cool... I agree about SPD versus. I'm right at about 220 and I found I was clipping out of the Crank Brothers (egg beaters in this case) so easily that was dangerous for me. They're not adjustable. I'm on TIME universally since then and love them. They have 3 adjustments for stiffness...
It's a good question. I'm not 100% sure I'll be there this year but will definitely keep you posted. Maybe you guys should come on next years. We're thinknig of tying this one into possibly Cruiser Moab rather than Overland Expo... I'd love to see Lance again (its been... 13 years? - since...
This is a spare wheel set for a 2000-2007 Honda XR650R Dual Sport that are perfect and low miles (less than 1000). These will probably also fit other models and are complete with spacer and I can also include a "geared down" 51 tooth sprocket as well (stock is 45 teeth). They are also mounted...
Hi all,
This is a high efficiency inverter that's rated for 1600 amps at 120V and only consumes up to 15 amps maximum at 12V while producing it. This is enough to run a hair dryer or power tools and only consume 15 amps from your car while DC doing it. It's also designed for real heavy duty...
Some fun surprises and pleasantries coming ;). I was just talking with Kurt tonight and he has some really good ideas in terms of 2011 planning. The truck WILL be on the trip. I am sooo excited... :)
Thanks a ton guys. Also Mike I saw your email on more funk tunes - just awesome...! I have a great idea on how to index all of your songs... ;)
I am psyched to be posting but I've just been so busy again. Super psyched on 2011 as well. Now I need to get info on the route and getting...
Another option is the Australian company has cleanable prefilter foam socks called Uni. You can keep the traditional ram air style and still get some decent precleaning. It is pretty remarkable how well the Donaldson style work though I must say. You can hear the noise of a turbo through...
So that's for now... "Tomorrow" with luck I'll start actually putting together an overview of the route and start putting some of these pics to places.
Once I have the trip report posted I'll also let everyone know and we can also answer any questions...
Next is my old man, who flew out from Canada to finally join me on one of my overlanding trips that I've been talking about for years. He also drove quite a bit and as a journalist travels all over the world (and is happens to be on a Safari at this actual moment in South Africa to Zimbabwe and...
Which leads me to Ann Lockley. I can't remember how Ann heard about us and the trip and I didn't know her or had never even heard of her but she is a regular contributor to Overland Journal now and has been writing for primarily UK 4WD magazines on events in the states for several years. I...
Back to it, and I haven't even finished introducing everyone. I'm sorry this has taken me so long to get back to. I've had a tremendously busy schedule and have been looking for time to finish it.
Next was my neighbor Rich Joss who usually works at McMurdo station either in logisitics or...
My only opinion is particularly on a vintage trailer, I would build your lid first and see how well it works/easy it is to open. If it's easy then I wouldn't bother with any doors. I took this method and was the biggest regret I had, personally, because real world sealing of it with weather...
If it helps your truck (assuming this is the one you're looking for it for) is OBD-1 and has a self-diagnostic system that tells you what sensor is not working, etc, when your check engine light comes on or whatever codes it has stored - no scanner required. It is helpful for things like temp...
Also I've always just made my own harness with a simply 5 point 30 amp relay ($5-$10 at any auto parts store) and good 14 gauge wire. It is amazing the difference it makes. Toyotas run chincy wiring all the way back through the under hood relay so it is a nice upgrade.
