Maybe I'm stating the obvious but you can install a hitch carrier that basically extends the reciever but still gives you plenty of capacity, (Rigd ultra hitch is 10,000 lbs).
Here is one for sale on this forum...
I was going to post something similar so I just revived this one from the dead.
I am still in the planning stages for my "expeditions" as my truck and camper are still on order and I realized that my electricity situation won't support an instant pot off grid, (I use an instant pot at home for...
I didn't check what size reciever you have but I have an F350 on order, (delayed for chip shortage) with a 3". I have been looking at etrailer under hitch fabrication parts to come up with ideas for a robust carrier that will extend beyond the slide in camper. I figure a 2.5" reciever with .25"...
I would think the truck is insured. Slide in campers are basically considered cargo. I'm guessing the giant camper extending in front and behind the truck violates more than one regulation and the owner would have a hard time collecting from the insurance company if he was involved in an...
Newer diesel trucks have to comply with emission standards just like cars. Our emission standards are so strict that our new diesels can't even run on the fuel in most other countries because of the sulfer content. Maybe if you come down off your high horse you will get US guys better.
It will be a lot more than a few years and I see self driving cars that you order like uber replacing private ownership for the middle class as a bigger threat to individual freedom.
I don't see how California can ban out of state leisure travelers driving older diesels.
Not sure if this applies but:

Also, how would they enforce it? Probable cause to check your engine for illegal...
Yes. I also have a Blackstone table top griddle that is nice because it keeps the oil off the gas lines so it is easy to clean. I'm all set from a practical standpoint but I prefer cooking with charcoal.
I placed an order on a Nomad Grill and I should receive it in August. I think it's the best...
I saw that but thought it was more of a debate than just different solutions people use camping. Like most camping gear, "best" is subjective to how much weight you are willing to carry.
I also considered just carrying a Dutch oven and cooking on a camp fire but I don't see much advantage over...
I did a forum search before I posted and didn't see anything for portable grills so I wanted it to be relevant to other users. I don't mind disregarding propane/gas suggestions.
The Nomad Grill might be a winner. Should fit in the generator compartment. I've seen them pop up on targeted advertisements but assumed they were propane. I guess propane suggestions are good for other members browsing with the same question?
Does anyone take a charcoal grill with them on the road? I enjoy grilling and am considering the following options:
-Webber go-anywhere, would fit in side the vehicle, (generator compartment) fairly easily but its pretty small.
-PKTX, looks like it could be attached to an exterior ladder or rack...
I think it looks like a great starting point if the shape matches what you want. Aluminum fatigues but depending on how well it was built, it probably won't matter. Steel can fatigue too if not designed well plus it is more likely to corrode/rust. If you don't like it, you could probably put...
The lift system is basically the same as Hallmark. Having seen them in person, they seem fairly simple and robust but maybe look less elegant in the up position than some.
