Nicely done. Looks strong and really clean. One suggestion that may help you not have to use it now that you've paid for it....these can be had with the G80 rear which helps a lot. You could likely find a used axle or retrofit your rear diff with it.
The way I understand it, you aren't actually increasing your spring load much at all if any. Rather you are moving the center point of where the twisting from the torsion bar will begin. So, depending on the setting you end up with you could end up contacting the bump stops at the top or the...
Dunno but I'd be totally on board. Weldtec is asking for ideas of projects for their SEMA van and I asked for them to look into it. Maybe chime in there and second the suggestion.
I wish that was an option....sadly I've looked and looked and it doesn't appear to be. The angle of the mounting point is pretty different than the trucks so they'd be angled down I think as well as the bolt patterns being different.
I have Airlift bags sitting on top of Daystar cups so they nest on the bottom but can flex off the axle. Been really happy with them. No lift platform needed for under the bags. I ordered them but didn't end up needing them.
Love it, a simple yet effective approach to a problem that I agree, is there. I long for a tow mirror similar to what is available on the Fords and most any truck that can slide in and out. I keep looking at the Velvac power mirror option but they just stick out too far for something stuck in...
I don’t know those trails but I can tell the AWD is capable of some pretty impressive stuff, particularly if you can find one with the G80 in the rear. I think you main concerns will be whether the 1500 chassis and 5.3 is right for the size boat you have.
Are you certain that if you simply purchased a Transit or Sprinter here that it would not be EU compliant and therefore able to be registered there once you settle down?
Looks like I'm kinda wearing this thread out....but I have another idea that, at least to me would be very appealing. An adapter that would make it possible to add GM truck tow mirrors to a van. There aren't any good tow mirrors out there for these vans, other than the ones you see on big box...
Nice! Drop the side skirts and some decent all terrains and you're in business. Any idea if it has the G80 in the rear? Very helpful if so and I've found can get you a long way in dry weather if you have decent clearance.
I watched a video last night by XOverland in Australia and he has fitted almost exactly like what we are talking about to his Landcruiser Troop Carrier in place of the factory windows. Looks like something somebody is making for that vehicle. Maybe can be done also for our vans?
Had another thought for a product that would maybe be easy to pull together that would draw some interest, well at least from me. Guards or protection for the lower shock mounts. That spot seems to want to hang up or hit on rocks and logs etc. and is just down there hanging taking general abuse.
Ah, got it. Be cool to see if Weldtec could come up with some sort of aftermarket solution even if it weren’t exactly the same. Not sure how much demand there would be but seems like a useful option.
