Cheap but big. If you want 1/3 the area size but at only 2X the cost (for same wattage), go for a crystalline silicon panel.
But, still, having said that, this looks like cheapest $/W "out there"....
Relating to California trail closures, etc.: if you want to "get behind" something, I think this is it:

Slightly related article below. Money that was *supposed* to be used for PURCHASING land for OHV use has been held up...to to the tune of $25+ million.

really, you don't "pick between [y]our children"? I'm sorry...
Well, I did call the technical support to inquire about how the 16.5V "boost" desulfation actually worked. The person definitely knew more about battery tech then the dude(s) in all the videos. I, on the other hand, could obviously not keep up with him. When I tried to parrot then line about...
Thank you for your insights. I probably jumped the gun with this charger...but now I'm more or less all in.
Seems kind of silly. It's microprocessor-controlled so I would think the pulse desulfation would be a no brainer...so long as they took the time to learn that it is the proper way to do...
Hey Fellowtraveler...yeah, so far this is just measuring battery voltages at the posts or therabouts, with grounds disconnected. We'll see what happens when I try to actually use some I*V.
If anyone's interested:
The charger's desulfation function seems to have brought a bit of new life to the yellowtop (which is actually probably more like 5 YO)...it now holds steady at 12.7V for about a couple of days whereas it was homing in at 12.5V before. We will see if it truly has...
I am testing now a Noco Genius 7200 charger.

I have a low-capacity Odyssey battery (pc925)for starting duties that went bad (was at ~10.5V and wouldn't charge in the charger's normal mode) which I have revived with the 16.5V "boost" mode and now shows 12.7...
Jim-- But surely things are different now, it must be much safer. Surely our government protects us from all foreign invaders.

MROONFJ:
Very nice pics. Watch your back. Apologies for my digression.
Thanks for the statistical minutiae. If you do the math, it was about 31-33 degrees above average when I was there. Actually, I double checked my photos...it was the very end of January/beginning of February. So, I guess maybe only 27-29 degrees above average.
To all the good folk who can't--or can't be bothered to--find the time for the research: before the Edgestar with the Danfoss KNOCKOFF liyang compressor (hey, I have an Edgestar and it's been a good investment; but a knockoff is still a knockoff), there were only TWO types of compressors found...
Good info, folks! Myself: 2 yrs, 2 mos with my 43qt. Good performance in high temps, including Death Valley (caveat: that was in January so only about 98-100 deg F. temps)
Pffft. folks asking for "proof", now here's the proof.
Danfoss BD35F compressor for +10 years is the standard for DC fridges.
Here's one version of the spec sheet for the BD compressor series...
Good point MarcFJ60.
I think the old adage needs to be amended; it should read:
"You generally get what you pay for so long as the company/product has been around for generations or at least decades".
Anyways, for this fridge, the key thing is power consumption. If it's 65W, then it's got the...
