Oh you have no idea. Its gone. Floor buckled, firewall crushed, frame rail twisted. It ran into the back of a stopped semi trailer at 35 mph. Its a parts rig.
Well fell backwards into this deal. I had been looking for some parts for this one, namely a OEM LR window and trim, a gauge cluster and steering wheel in good shape. And this came along.
Looks pretty good from that side.
The silly thing runs and drives great, except for the binding...
Just about to the finish line. Had a nice day and a couple extra hands and was able to get the bumper and the winch installed. My punch list is getting smaller.
Tie in brackets that I had my fab guy make
Test fit
All done
Sisters
Thank you.
Powder coater called yesterday evening and he got the bumper all done. Couple quick pics, hope to throw it on in the next few days.
The finish is really nice.
Found a little more time to plug away at this thing. I am getting excited to get it all back together and start driving it.
First up, replace the sagging headliner.
This gal is a keeper, she took to this awful job like a champ
All finished up
Since this will be used as a Expedition...
Finished up the painting projects last night. Painted the grille and headlamp bezels, as well as the wiper arms.
Prepping
Laying on some color
Now onto finishing the paint and ceramic coating. From what it was to what it is now, I am very pleased.
Look at the blue.
All done...
Thank you. I am really pleased with the way its coming out. Our guys are pretty spoiled by the shop I will say that. They keep it very clean and ready for me to occupy a bay. Haha
Now onto the paint. I decided after reading pdqgp post about his experience with the new Lake Country wool pad on the Flex, as well as the Mothers CMX I had to try.
The results are quite great, I couldn't be happier. Left is after/Right is before.
Just remember this shot of the hood...
So after a short hiatus due to work, work travel and being busy I was finally able to bust some tail on this thing and get a ton done.
First thing to address was the paint and the flares, and the overspray on the paint from whomever decided to try and paint the flares on the Jeep.
Before, they...
Thank you. I agree they are meant to be driven.
Very nice. I love the older body style too. I have owned them from stock to 5" tall. This one will get the 31s and stay. My 2 door is 4.5" with 33's and it can be a pain to get in and out of. I wanted to keep this low for camping. No SYE...
Strange you say that as its pretty common for a 4.0L rear main and oil filter adaptor to leak on an XJ.
Specific to the XJ, the filter can not clear the uni frame rail so they turned it 90* with the adaptor. No those were the valvecover gasket grommets that were hard as rocks and a absolute...
So I found the source of my oil leak not to be the RMS, but the oil filter adaptor housing. Check out the gasket.
I pulled the valve cover as well and replaced the gasket, as I noticed a leak at the drivers rear that has made a little mess. To my surprise the motor was squeaky clean...
I have used the tent before on another XJ and know not to make that mistake.
I have zero intentions of doing any serious offroading, more trail riding, so none of that is at all necessary. The only thing is the frame reinforcement up front with the steering box brace with the bumper. I have...
He actually got a couple more in that were a little nicer than mine a still has one. He still has this one: https://chattanooga.craigslist.org/cto/d/chattanooga-2000-jeep-cherokee/6792273591.html
Its the Orvis Edition XJ spoiler that was only on the UK XJ. Spoiler lights made a run of...
Well I got a little free time over the weekend and started polishing the paint. It was really, really rough, but I am seriously impressed how well its coming back to life. A few pics. I am headed out of town this weekend, but hopte to get it closer to done this week.
Right rear 1/4...
They are super nice, BUT never net the lift height that I am after. And yes they are expensive as well. I know the XJs pretty well.
Spent majority of its life in California, and a few months in Maryland before it came to Missouri 3 years ago.
Well thank you. I love the 2 door, I have owned it longer than any of the others and I just love it. I ended up getting a recommendation from another forum member and gave them a try, they are pretty impressive for $90...
