Teraflex Falcon 3.3 Shocks- Install & Review

On the Rancho shocks, the knobs are vulnerable but at least they're cheap and easy to replace. Like any standard shock in the OEM location, the shock bodies get mangled in the rocks, which is why I appreciate the twin-tube design of the Ranchos since they're still fully functional in spite of...

Teraflex Falcon 3.3 Shocks- Install & Review

The placement of the rear shocks' reservoirs is a major concern for me, because I'm constantly beating up my rear shocks and shearing off the adjustment knobs (I run Rancho RS9000s). Hopefully Teraflex will come out with some sort of HD mount/shield for the vulnerable positioning of the rear...

    Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx

As a self-admitted "newb" I would say that you're not likely to be able to tell much of a difference between the two tires. Either one will suit your needs very well, but if you're going to be sticking to the more street, snow, & light-duty offroad side of the spectrum, I'd recommend the AT3...

    REI 20% OFF TEPUI TENTS

REI has been known to financially support anti-OHV organizations; I will not shop there.

Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

I really like those slider windows! Some bug screens and OEM-level tinted glass would make them perfect.

    Titan trekker on sale

I installed mine over the weekend and can confirm that it fits perfectly with the MetalCloak tire carrier. The only issue I had was that Titan's included wheel studs for the tire mount were too short for my 315/70R17 Coopers on OEM wheels - too much sidewall bulge prevented the lug nuts from...

    Titan trekker on sale

I've been using a shaker siphon for years. I leave it out in the sun for a few minutes after I've used to to evaporate most of the gasoline out of it, and then I drop it into a gallon freezer ziplock bag for storage without fumes. Use rubber/nitrile gloves though, or else handling the hose will...

12 Volt On-Board Air Compressors What's Out There?

I ran an MV50 for years, and I still have it in my garage. But after upgrading to the PUMA, man oh man does that MV50 seem slow. My buddy still has an MV50 on his rig, and after a day of 4wheeling when we stop to air back up before hitting the pavement, in the time it takes him to air up two...

12 Volt On-Board Air Compressors What's Out There?

If you don't need the pressure tank, you can remove the compressor and likely fit it under the hood. You could also remotely mount the tank at a frame rail or elsewhere; this is exactly what I did with my first Puma, stuffing both the compressor and the tank longitudinally inside the rear...

    Subaru Outback Tires, Going Flat...Thoughts

If those don't hold up for you, I'd consider an even more puncture-resistant tire.

12 Volt On-Board Air Compressors What's Out There?

Same here. I made the mistake of selling my first Puma along with the vehicle it was installed in, so after being disappointed with other compressors, I bought another Puma and I've kept it with me as I've cycled through multiple vehicles. Nothing can beat its price/performance ratio.

Thanks a lot for the tip! I decided to go ahead and order one - can't beat this price!

    STT Pro or ST Maxx????

I'm not sure what you mean here. I have no need for beadlocks; in my 24 years of offroading, the only time I've ever blown a bead is when a sidewall got sliced and the tire went completely flat.

    STT Pro or ST Maxx????

I'm generally a slow'n'steady driver. I like to let the gearing, suspension, and tires pull me up obstacles rather than hitting them with speed or using lots of wheelspin. I have two sets of Staun Tyre Deflators, one set to "high" pressure (20lbs) for rockcrawling and general purpose...

Gas mileage increase going from Cooper AT3 to BFG KO2?

Even though the tires have the same size listed on their sidewalls, you will find some significant difference in their real-world height. Inflation pressure also plays a significant role, not only in rolling radius but also in rolling resistance. The two different casings used by BFG and...

How much thought do you put into tread depth on new tires?

The reduced tread depth is my biggest disappointment with BFG's "upgrade" from the KO to the KO2. Their All Terrain went from having some of the deepest tread to now mediocre at best. For me, it's not about tread life, but rather traction. That's why I replace my tires once they've worn to...

Whic tire is right for me?

Based on what you've described is your usage, I would recommend going up one tire size to 275/70R17 and choosing either the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 or the Cooper Discoverer A/T3. If you wanted to trade a little bit of snow/ice traction for a heavier-duty tire with more off-road traction...

    STT Pro or ST Maxx????

Agreed. I've never had any problems result from normal offroad wear-and-tear on my tires, but my buddy's tires' disintegration was quite worrisome. I found a pic of one of the first chunks that tore out of his tires: And a couple more photos of his other shredded tires shortly before he...
