    MB LAF1113B alternator?

Hi! I need a bit of help. It seems our alternator has given up the ghost. I can just but a new one, but 24V and 35A just doesn’t cut it. Has anyone found a direct replacement above or around 24V and 100A preferably internally regulated? The engine is a OM352 btw.

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

I have looked at them before. This time i tried writing, but got no reply. It seems they are out of business, the website went down today :-( they talk about Watts linkage and airbags, but no drawings or pictures unfortunately.

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

Hi guys! A truck like ours with a fully integrated camper and cab just popped up for sale! MB 911 on Mobile.de I have no idea about how they have done it, but I’ll try and contact them to pick their brains. It looks like it does well in moderate terrain and it seems like they have tamed the...

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

Thanks for the replies guys! Regarding the never ending contemplation on how subframes are mounted, I just remembered what I have been driving for almost 20 years: Landcruisers, HJ60, HJ45, HJ61 and now a HDJ 100. All vehicles with frames, and if you remove the body, the frame flexes a lot! The...

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

Hi Sitec, Oh I love that video! And they might be 4x2, but the chassis should be the same, or even softer, according to the german forums. And looking at those buses, I suspect they have seen a lot more terrain than ours ever will. On that subject, I suspect ours in reality will be a bad road...

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

No need to appoligize guys! I’m listening to your constructive critisism and I really appreciate your input. But (there’s always a but, sorry), I have been toying and building this thing in my head for three years. I believe I have worked out most of the kinks, and I know I have convinced myself...

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

Hi Sitec, First of all, thanks for taking the time, not only to comment in detail, but also the sketch. I do like your thoughts, and if I give up on my own idea, that may well be the way we go. I really like your idea about access from cab to bed, that would effectively make it a two bedroom...

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

Thanks Michael! Coolness was a major factor, but others were: A really big cab with room for four+ and a dog etc. No engine box in the cab means that you use it as a regular room. No tilting cab means a cabover is not a problem. I know you can get a lot of that in the big pick ups you guys in...

Mercedes LAF 1113 B family truck

Hi All! I've been here for 10 years this february! And we finally got the dream project, a Mercedes LAF 1113 B from 1979. I am starting this thread partly to document the build, partly to ask questions and get help. First of all, a bit of background, feel free to jump past the boring parts...

Merkabah: MB 2626 AK 6x6 tipper to expedition truck conversion

Hi Pairo Always inspiring to see your updates! Be careful when using power tools, especially the wire wheel, although you look a bit worse for wear, I can assure you the wire wheel is a really nasty tooth brush! Years ago, when cleaning the original rubber coating off of a Landcruiser 60 body...

    VOLVO TGB Expedition Camper

Hi Outback, I have the pictures on an old computer which I have to scavenge the HD from to get to them, sorry. I made the first using an Opel Corsa (LHD) servo, the next one I used a Vauxhall Corsa (RHD) servo, the difference is which way the electric motor is mounted, and the RHD one goes to...

    INTERESTING

If i might add my opinion, because none of the previous posts sees it quite like I do. I will not comment on the man, his wealth, or any of that, but keep it to the vehicle. What I see is something that tries to be too many things at once, and things start to work against, rather than...

C5500 TopKick 4x4 Crew Cab Build

Hi NeverEnough I just read through all 65 pages in one go, it's 3AM, but I couldn't let go! I stumpled on your thread looking for builds using PP honeycomb, and got SO much more!!! First off, what dedication! You chose a path and kept on it all the way regarding this build, and obviously also...

    A Volvo out there anywhere?

I know I'm at the complete opposite of the globe, but I got a TGB1314 (the same chassis as the 304) that I converted to Toyota diesel, a 1KZ-T, including gearbox. The Volvo weighs, including cab, new engine, larger tires (Michelin ZXL 11x9) etc., but complete bare chassis otherwise, 2,100 kgs...

    VOLVO TGB Expedition Camper

Hi Hugo I think it does, and one big advantage is that it keeps the weight down. I have however not driven ours much, the projetc is on hold at the moment. I think you should go to Sweden instead, that's where they come from! Best Regards, Christian

    Volvo TGB 111/303 Camper...WOW

Never having owned a pinz my take on it is of course not the most well informed. But IMO the Volvo is a much simpler construction and take on the same problem, straight axles and leaf springs, conventional engine setup, simple electrics etc. makes it a simple rugged diy vehicle, which can be...
