    Front Bumper/Gill Gaurd

Thanks! Yes, the factory tow hooks remain with no modifications needed. You do need to trim the plastic lower air dam a bit, though. Really easy install. I was able to pick mine up used off of Craigslist for $150. Casey

    Front Bumper/Gill Gaurd

I have a Westin brush guard on my '95 Tahoe, and it just bolts to the bumper, but it actually is really sturdy. I hit a deer at low speeds (around 40 mph), and it just dented the guard slightly, and protected my front end. I'm really pleased with it. - - - - As far as a full bumper...

Full size trucks on jeep trails advice

YUP!! Where I usually trail ride in NW Arkansas, it's mostly dense forest trails that are really tight, and my 2-door Tahoe (full size Blazer) barely squeezes through at times with the mirrors folded in. On more than one occasion, I have received some strange looks from the ATV and SXS...

    M1010 Ambulance to Expedition Rig

May I ask why you want to change the gears, especially with a 700R4 in the future? I think you will greatly regret doing that. I had a built '81 C20 with a turbocharged 6.2L, 4.10 gears, 700R4, and 31" tires. That was a really sweet combo. The steep overdrive of the 700R4 is a perfect match...

Nice! It's awesome to see rigs other than Jeeps and Yota's out on the trails. Casey

Electric Fans + Air Conditioning = Refrigerant TOO COLD?

No such thing as too much airflow across the condenser. The point of the condenser is to dump the heat pulled out of the passenger compartment into the ambient air. The more air flow across the fins of a condenser, the better and more efficient the system works. And the refrigerant doesn't...

    Friends, it's a sad day

I paid $1460 for a complete rebuild/upgrade on my wife's Envoy with the 4L60E last summer. Local race shop that did a great job. Has been running great since. I would still fix that 'burb if I were you! Shoot, I've got 322K miles on my '95 Tahoe, and if the 4L80E ever goes out, it's...

"Adventure Mobile" goes back in time.. 1996 Suburban to 1984 Suburban..

That's too much for that particular truck. I'd say about half of that asking price would be more reasonable. Casey

"Adventure Mobile" goes back in time.. 1996 Suburban to 1984 Suburban..

I like the old diesels. The 6.2L is a really simple and reliable engine. Compared with the gas engine already in the 'burb, you'll love it much more, since it's a mechanically fuel-injected engine and you won't have any carburetor woes. The low-rpm torque is really nice as well. However...

    Running a Stock Rig ???

It's kind of funny when you think about it. It wasn't all that long ago when 31" tires were a major upgrade, and 33's were the largest most anyone would use, and they would go most anywhere in the world. Nowadays, you can't hardly drive to the mall without seeing several Jeep Jk's with 37's...

1995 Chevy Tahoe Diesel build thread

No, never weighed it. Really should have this summer when our family of four had it loaded to the brim, including a roof top carrier, for a 9 day trip to Colorado! I probably would have been scared. Had a worst mpg recording of 11.5 mpg during the mountain driving, and a best of 18.3 mpg on...

The best I've seen is 18.9 mpg. Averages around 17 most of the time. That's with the all the extra gear and 33" tires as well. I have never been able to break the 19 mpg barrier, but I had a few 6.2L rigs that would. Casey

I would love to add another 6.5L to my fleet, but it's not in the budget right now. We're actually saving up to buy another travel trailer. However, I have a friend looking for a 5 speed K2500 diesel. What year is yours? Casey
