We have a 2019 Northern Lite 8 11 exse , I have had a half dozen different campers from an 8 foot Alaskan to an 11 foot Fleetwood Caribou. The NL is head and shoulders above in quality and comfort. Considering the content level and capacities I think that the weight is reasonable for a 1 ton...
Nice Tdub! I really miss mine, I replaced it with a modded 250 WR that’s twice as fast and half as fun. How is hauling the bike on the Jeep? I have a JLUR but I have been leery about that much weight on the back. I always packed mine on my F350 but it would be fun to be able to take it with the...
If I sell it I would be in the 3500.00 dollar range. Unless you need to get out on the open road and run with traffic it is probably overkill for a strictly dirt road shuttle vehicle. They are water cooled , 6 speed, fuel injected and have a pretty sophisticated frame and suspension. Mine has an...
I have done the same thing with both a TW 200 and now a WR 250 X. Either worked fine, easy to load with a short ramp and both around 300 pounds. You can find nice used specimens in the 2 to 3 thousand dollar range if you look around. I am thinking about selling the 250, it is set up nicely for...
Though I'd give you my two cents since we are both in Montana and seem to use our vehicles in a similar manor. I had a 2015 Trail with kdss for four years and now have a 2019 JLUR. I primarily switched so I could flat tow the rig but I have come to much prefer the Jeep. I really disliked the...
It works out pretty well, the wife and I did a big backcountry loop on the Rocky Mountain Front by Augusta last night. Slept well through rain and wind safe and secure. Wish there was a little more headroom but the platform sure provides a bunch of storage under it that makes up for the tight fit.
Those were great, I have always set my Suv's up to sleep inside. Always seemed like a better idea then spending thousands on a roof top tent when you could have a secure ,weather proof shelter for the cost of a sheet of plywood.
I reconfigured the sleeping platform from my 5 gen 4 Runner to my JLUR and for the most part it worked pretty well. I use the same setup with 3 Plano sportsman’s boxes under rear section of the platform. This all fits nicely and every part of the platform will fit behind the seats when they are...
What generation of 4Runner do you have? Our fifth generation was outstanding for the majority of your needs. The difference was we had a modular bed platform with storage under it. The sleeping space was queen size and would all fit behind the seat when it was disassembled leaving the back seat...
A friend has one and we have a Klepper folding kayak. They are better then no boat but setup and tear down are time consuming. The beautiful thing about the take down canoe would be the portability compared to the short setup time
That's similar in concept, interesting that it's not more commonly done. I might have to try chopping my old Mad River TW Special in half, at 18.5 feet long and 80 or so pounds it would be a lot more manageable.
I saw a very interesting canoe on the back of a small Sprinter based motorhome this winter in Boulder City Nev. It was on a custom rack at the rear of the RV that held two mountain bikes and the canoe. What was unusual was that the canoe was a kevelar Mad River that had been cut in half and then...
Just back from a three month road trip with the Ram and the Jeep, it was perfect to have both. We did several long multiday drives with each and I think this is the best way to do long trips with the JlUR.
I have a 2018 3500 Ram and a 2019 JLUR and they are definitely at the opposite ends of the spectrum though both will work for what you propose. Unless you really intend to use the Jeep up to it's potential I think you will have to make a lot of compromises for the benefits. A crewcab shortbox...
