I'm looking at getting the Leitner ACS rack with some gear pods for my 19 F250. I noticed the pods are pretty deep. Does anyone with a full size truck have these and load an ATV or know the clearance between pods if you have them on each side? My concern is the 14" depth of the gear pods will...
Super fun trip this past weekend in Moab. RTT worked great going 90mph on I70 in Utah. I did put a wind deflector in which removed wind noise entirely. Next on the list I think is the Leitner Rack with gear pods so unpacking/packing isn't such a chore. Idea is keep gear in the gear pods...
Just got back from a long weekend in Moab. Temps were 30-70 deg. Very little condensation seen on the clear roof window after a night in the cold temps and all closed up. Overall very happy with how comfortable we were. Last year we used a crappy ground tent and were freezing.
Are you looking at the 120lb Sparrow? I doubt you will find anything lighter. The iKamper will give you much more space for the same closed footprint and is still a hard top but it sits at 160lbs. The smaller iKamper 2x is lighter than the 4x as well. Might be options to compare this against.
I would specifically not want the snow springs unless you are running with significant extra weight on the front. Even with some extra weight on the non-snow springs would probably be a much better ride and some aftermarket bumpers aren't that heavy so really depends on what bumper you're...
37's are harder to get a higher payload and they are $$ so I stayed with 35x12.50-18. The other factor not mentioned much is rim size. I hear the 17's have very tight clearances of brake calipers depending on the rim so I stuck with 18's. Just don't go with 20's or you're defeating the purpose.
There’s some wind noise between 30-40mph. I’m guessing due to the tight clearance between the rack and tent so I’m looking into mounting a wind fairing to direct the air over the tent. The tent manufacturer iKamper makes one so I’m looking to try that.
Definitely could have two! Not a crazy idea at all. Keep the kids in one and mom n dad in the other! Currently the bed is to transport dirt bikes which are too high for cabs etc.
Moab in a few weeks so I’ll have an update soon on some other necessities
Looks like a nice soft top RTT. That base looks like the same that iKamper uses. Just FYI with that honeycomb base. Don’t crawl around without the mattress or something dispersing weight. Knees directly onto that floor may dent it. The overall panels will hold a Jeep in weight but small...
Just installed Rhino Rack Pioneer and iKamper RTT. The Rhino Rack Pioneer is the only rack that doesn't require drilling holes. It actually re-uses bolts that are under the roof/door seam. I realize the overhang looks odd but I also didn't want it overhanging the front. The structure of the...
That's consistent with what I was told as well. Basically air gaps / layers is key which is why you see many of the winter base camps have two layers. Do you already create an air gap between the rain fly and interior?
1. I'm guessing you're referring to keeping the outside closed and inside open for air flow? The outside flap extends further than the inside so there are options there (This was shown to me when I asked about ventilation during rain/snow) but I would agree zipper down inside would be ideal...
I expressed those concerns to the local dealer here close to Denver. He said placing something like a foam workout/yoga block between the top cover and inner tent above the door helps air flow. Have you tried that? I just purchased the new 2.0 version after checking them out in person and I...
have you checked out the IKamper Skycamp? I just got one for the room, quick setup, and it's a hardtop. Once I saw one in person I was sold. Only 160lbs and
82.6 x 74.8 mattress size. https://www.ikamper.com/pages/skycamp
Hey guys,
New guy here living in Colorado with a 2019 F250 6.7 crew cab with 6 3/4 bed. I went with the F250 for future camper towing capability and payload. Could a F150 work for me?.....maybe but with the mountains here I figured why not play it safe. When I go on trips I have my dirtbike...
