I know little about this subject from a scientific perspective and it seems you've gotten some good advice here- I had a thought- as you have the fan/radiator in place appropriately- is your fan (the regular engine fan) on an electric clutch or just mechanical? Meaning is it always on if the...
Even mini adventures can be great. And some times with little ones the "mini" ones are just right. Well done! And a great area for sure. I havent been to the CT Lakes for years and I need to explore that more. I just always seem to go to Maine. But I need to do more in NH and VT. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool. As a constant tinkerer of things I like what you've done, and your design is awesome. Does the ladder stow in the tent some how or in the vehicle(I'm guessing vehicle but just curious?). Could there be a channel to hole it under a rack (for those who have chosen a higher mount) or on...
Maybe I'm misunderstanding something but could you mount the camper to the "tray" when needed, then when you dont want the camper on the vehicle remove it and then put the "insert" in place to give you the flatbed? (Rather than flipping the "insert", having that weight and mounting the camper to...
Why not make one out of tubing that "catches" the top of the tire (like a boat ladder). Add a strap behind the tire to hold it in place. Would that work?
What about some factory 4x4 versions in cab over like FUSO or some of the medium duty trucks- international, even peterbilt and kw I think offer medium duty cabovers but I may be wrong. I also dont know specifically which ones offer 4x4 either, but I'm thinking then you get something with a...
I'm with chet- I'd give it a shot. Maybe just tie them up there and go for a drive and see if you get vibration, hum, etc. If you do you havent spent time and energy dabbing something that has to be redone. That "test" will tell you if the shape, bumps etc in the Maxtrax cause an issue.
I'm with everyone here....you could in theory calculate it in your driveway but then when you're on a trail at speed (even slow) with different loads, different camber, different traction it would all change. Just too difficult to predict with any certainty imo. I 100% get why you want to know...
Some of those "suggestions" make me scratch my head too....then some times I think maybe it's their AI predicting what I might want, and that scares me even more...."gee, I hope no one sees me buying both of those items together!" Haha.
I like to have light when I need it. And a Coleman on bright helps with late arrival camp setup and cooking, then turned way down provides a nice soft glow to easily find things w/o being obnoxious (at least imo).
I also have a headlamp but wear it strap extended around my neck so if someone...
Thanks for sharing that 1pieceatatime. I am with many of the people here trying to discern if the extra $ for the Maxtrax are worth it.
For a lot of things I know it doesn't always make sense to pay up for the top of the line version. But we all know that there are certain things that do...
Long trip....those deadhead runs can be brutal!
So given that as long as the midrange fuel is less than 33% more expensive it pays for itself. (1.75 mpg better / 13 mpg).
I used to run mid grade in my 79 K10 for just that reason back 100 years ago. I got 11.5 which was 15% better than the 10...
