Starting from scratch: How to haul and camp w/ 4 dirt bikes and people?

Thanks for that link to Intech. I've been reading all about them. The smaller Explore model might be the ticket. It can load 2 bikes inside. I can put 2 bikes in the truck. With one tip out- I can sleep on that, and if the boys go, they can air mattress on the floor. It would have heat and...

Starting from scratch: How to haul and camp w/ 4 dirt bikes and people?

Good point. If it's the Jeep - I wouldn't have any bikes in the trailer- it would be "empty" but with camping/sleeping gear. That's why I think it could handle a 7x14 since it won't have but a few hundred pounds in it. I keep an ARB fridge and stuff in the Jeep the whole time so I can have...

Starting from scratch: How to haul and camp w/ 4 dirt bikes and people?

Basecamp all the way. The only reason I was thinking baby cargo trailer/hauler is that if the Jeep can tow it too, I can take either truck. Moab with the Jeep? Got a camper. I found a 45 page thread on just this topic over on the ADVrider forum. They're more of the adventure bike crowd, so...

Starting from scratch: How to haul and camp w/ 4 dirt bikes and people?

That's sweet. What trailer make? I like the frame is aluminum. Trailers always rust.

Starting from scratch: How to haul and camp w/ 4 dirt bikes and people?

We're soon to be moving out West and buying toys to explore and camp. Everything from Moab to Glamis will be within range. Some trips will be with my Wrangler and camping gear, but my brother and I want to do the dirt bike thing along with camping and take my 2 sons along too. For my business...

Cargo trailer base camp for dirt bikes?

What about a cargo trailer base camp for dirt bikes? My brother and I plan to have KTM 500's and my 2 kids will probably end on some kind of trail e-motorcycles (planning this for 2023). Traveling the west to places like Moab, Colorado, Arizona, Glamis, etc. I was thinking a tandem axle cargo...

A-Frame Campers: Chalet, Aliner, Jayco - Anyone?

I would get whatever is better condition. I looked at 2 used A-liners and passed on both. One, the coil spring for the roof broke through the fiberglass. The other one I could see daylight through every roof seam.

Awning idea- extruded track and a folding tarp with poles and guy wires?

The awning arrived today. It works great for the sun. I'll have to experiment in the rain. I think I can drop one pole down and maybe it'll drain. There's also a loop in the front center, I can tie a 3rd line so it pulls the center down like a "V". One of those 2 should work in light rain.

Awning idea- extruded track and a folding tarp with poles and guy wires?

I got the Keder tracks installed with 3M VHB tape on both sides of the Jeep. I went with the plastic track because it's black vs the silver aluminum. There won't be much stress on the track so the VHB tape should hold up. I sent the sail track material to a tarp maker who is going to make me...

Awning idea- extruded track and a folding tarp with poles and guy wires?

I think a 7' length of "Keder rail" using 3m VHB tape along the top of my hard top will do the trick. https://www.kedersolutions.com/products/flat-edge-awning-rail/ Then sew this onto the edge of a shade awning cloth: https://www.kedersolutions.com/products/welded-flap-keder/ Grommets on the...

Awning idea- extruded track and a folding tarp with poles and guy wires?

That might be the winner. Time to research that option. Thanks! Edit- the wind break wall I found is attached with velcro.....

Awning idea- extruded track and a folding tarp with poles and guy wires?

I have a Wrangler with hardtop. I can't run a roof rack and awning and still fit in the garage. I'm wondering if anyone makes a removable awning. I can see mounting an extruded aluminum track that an awning can slide into, then use poles and some guy lines and stakes for tension. When...

How many running the Rhino Backbone? Have you found a rear cargo area rack/shelf that will work?

I mis-typed. I was wondering what's involved with the JKvault mounted up high. Roll bar only, or does it go to the hard top? https://grabarsusa.com/JKVAULT-CONCEALED-STORAGE-JEEP-LOCK-BOX

Building a Plywood Deck Plate in the Back of your JKU

It worked! The cargo mat made a perfect template. I drilled a series of holes for the subwoofer to breathe. I got Acra tie downs through bolted with T-nuts for the ARB fridge tie down. I ordered aircraft style "L" track for the left size for cargo control. I'm also waiting on longer M6...

Building a Plywood Deck Plate in the Back of your JKU

I'm about to tackle this project. I'm thinking of using the Mopar rear cargo mat as the template. Now to decide if I really need an ARB fridge slide or not. I've had no issues with it cargo strapped into the back. Not sure if a little more access is worth $350. I would like to put a slide...

How does that Vector off-road box mount? Do you have to drill into the hard top?

    Sleep 4+dog: Beef up a pop-up?

I'm in the brain storming phase for our next camper. I tow with a JKU. Need to sleep up to 4 (2 kids) and a dog. I just sold my Casita which was great, but not off-road capable. I'm not going to take a trailer on the trails, but needs to be overland/forest road capable and be an off-grid...

Going on first 10-day "expedition", need help choosing what stuff to bring

I ordered an NRS bail pail. Great reviews and they make awesome paddling gear. Won't have it for tomorrow, but in time for the trip.

I did all the above and had extra room so I packed my bigger table and blackstone 17" flat top so I can rock breakfast on our 1 night test camp tomorrow.
