Bought a cheap one, stuck it on the dash. I like it. Wife likes it. Makes people go, "ooo, what's that?"
I don't need a new screwdriver, but I'll probably buy one next time I go to the hardware store, too.
Would any of those pet tracking products work? The batts last a week on the collar units, and you can track them with your phone.
Just hide it in your trailer and relax. You can check it any time, and you even get a message if it moves out of a designated area.

Well, I tried to open it to maybe move the magnet. Broke the plastic globe, and got mineral oil all over the dining room. What a mess! Contacted the seller on ebay to ask if it pointed north or south when he had it. He said he was selling it for his father and as far as as he knows it always...
Yupper, that is the plan. Good advice from everybody. Now I have to drill it for a 24 volt light and make a mounting bracket for it. Repaint it and polish the dome, too.
(The fluffy white rain of which we do not speak of aloud is coming, so maybe we will just head south!)
Yeah, it is that kind. Funny thing is, until I took those pics, I didn't see the lubber line! Now that I found it, I know what kind it is, and I'll use it accordingly. I WAS gonna mount it in such a way that we look down on it, but I think I'll mount it higher on the dash after I repaint the...

Bought a compensated vehicle compass on Ebay. It has the n-s and e-w screws to adjust it on the bottom. Tried adjusting it both inside and outside the truck and I can get it to swing a little in both directions, but it's still 180° off, and points south instead of north.
Junk, or fixable?
Next time you're on a long night drive on the road and your eyes are getting tired, reach down and roll your dash dimmer all the way off.
You'll be amazed at how much easier it is on your eyes, and how much more of the road you can see.
I think that proves your point right there, Bill.
I've retapped many. Good advice about the magnets above. One trick I learned from an old motor pool mechanic is to vice-grip the short end of a big Allen wrench, magnetize it, and use this to reach inside the pan and sweep the area inside for shavings. Neat little trick that might help.
I've...
