It's the Bigfoot leveling system from Quadra Manufacturing. They are on most high end RVs, especially 5th wheels. We had them for 11 years fulltime use and never experienced a failure.

That was a funny post. I bet they're even more relieved they don't service Black Series anymore. They probably are counting he days until all the BS trailers they sold are decommissioned. Hydraulic lift systems in almost every industry are generally super reliable. The Bigfoot RV leveling...
What is your budget? It sounds like you need something the size of an HQ19 with a floorplan that works for four people. By the time you modify a trailer with everything you noted above (not to mention upgrading solar along with electrical), you'll be pushing $100k and still have an inferior box...
Double towing like that is something I see a lot of. Definitely not a great idea. One of my favorites is when they mount the ball on the tailgate of something like an old station wagon.
When I see pictures like that, I don't think it's about money. It usually looks more like ignorance combined with overconfidence! Another fun category of photos is people in parking lots trying to fit really large items like sofas or TVs into tiny vehicles.
We like the low elevation too. The trailer is parked at 1,750 feet. Park City is pretty awesome, but we're not high elevation mountaineers like you. :)
I forgot to mention the Nautilus water manifold system. It's too soon to tell, but I'm not convinced this will be a good long term product. It seems like system that is becoming more and more popular on higher end trailers. I understand the motivation behind the product. It makes it easy for the...
We've been trying to catch up with pruning and the garden since we came back later than usual this year. Here are some photos of Summer Camp up in Idaho on a rainy spring morning:
So far so good. We've been living in the trailer for 24 days now. During that time we towed it more than 2,000...
OK, how many bottles of wine, bourbon, and pounds of ribeye is it going to take to get you to sit down and share all the cool spots in UT you know about?
Yep. Kingdom Camping Caravan XL. Also $100k. Compare with $100k for the X145. A Kingdom trailer comparable (size/weight/components) to the X145 would come in around $70k.
I agree with what you're saying. I wouldn't reduce the batteries to save money. I'd reduce them because the X145 doesn't have a lot of real estate on top for solar panels, and my goal is to match the watts with the AH as closely as possible. With the R1, you can support 1100AH of batteries...
Yes, stage 2 batteries and stage 3 solar would be a better match. A good rule of thumb is 2X watts on top vs amp hours on batteries. It's still hard to see putting out $100k for this trailer. It's a great product, but that still seems steep.
We didn't bother with a permanent mount.. We've been leaving the dish on the ground when we're in a camp for a while. While we're moving, we use a mifi device on our overnight stays. It's really easy to put the dish on the roof of our new Caravan XL (up the ladder and right next to the 12V AC...
We've had to make do with public wifi and Verizon and we pound out these 12 hour driving days going to and from Indiana (in some mean weather). Starlink spoiled us over the winter. We'll be back in north Idaho this weekend enjoying our Starlink again!?
