For what your wanting to do I don't think there will be a big difference except you would have a more off road capable truck. With a AT habitat it would be a sweet rig.

I had a 2005 PW and the 5.7 was adequate. Now have a 2016 Ram 4x4 non PW with a 6.4 Hemi and it definitely has more power than the 5.7. There were some changes made on 2014 models, one was axle ratios they are slightly taller on the 6.4 to help mpg's. Sounds like a decent price for a 2013 PW...

We have a similar heater in our 5th wheel that helps take the load off the main furnace, it works well but being ventless I don't use it while sleeping.

I agree with CCPAjeep on a 2500 truck, 3500 even better IMO. A 7' long flatbed popup shell would look good on a truck that came with a 6.5' truck bed. 8' would be to long with to much overhang and would look funny, just my humble opion. I'am currently building a similar truck/camper adventure...

If you want the Cummins get it in a 3500 with the Aisin transmission IT IS worth the extra $$. If the nicer ride of the rear coils on the 2500 is more important, get it with a Hemi so the payload # are better. Having had both engines I think you will be happy with either one.

That is one solution. By the time we would be installing the camper the Ram will be our only vehicle so would have to either rent a car or buy a temporary POS vehicle to use. Also would like to be there for the install and they like to do a walk through with the new owner.

I'am sending them a rough drawing of what I would like in a popup camper and they will let me know if they can do it. Not looking to do anything weird so should be able to come up with something that will work.
