Review from Autocar: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/land-rover/defender/first-drives/land-rover-defender-110-s-2020-review Manages to say a lot of not a lot....

Old school Ford overlander (with boat on the roof!)

Trailer wouldn't work for the Gall Boys: Which really isn't that unusual set up over here; the trailer normally folds up and hangs off the back of the 'van.

Why are other full size SUV's not used in overlanding/offroading as often as Forerunner/Landcruiser?

That's an old Peugeot/Citroen/Fiat van rather than a Transit - think the ancestor of the Ram ProMaster

Small lightweight camp gear trailers in US?

Think sideways.... A lot of the small european trailers are designed to be stored vertically; therefore, make a dolly to load it on and slide it down the alley way on its vertical. Then takes up less space in the yard as well...

Seeking help purchasing / importing an HZJ75 from Australia to the USA

That one in the link is a funny one, it says it's turbo, but a 1HZ isn't a turbo engine. Also, very few people I know use Autotrader (I didn't even know it existed here, used to it in the UK), so have a look on Carsales.com.au as well as you might find more range.

EPA Diesel Engine “Delete Tuning” Crackdown...Is It Here Now?

I've only pulled out what I feel is the pertinent part, and whilst I do not disagree with the total proportions you've mentioned, the issue is the concentration of these pollutants in different areas; for example, it is rare that there is a coal fired power plant or a large manufacturing...

    Defender

Europe doesn't really do column shift - also potentially hassle with swapping between LHD and RHD (which side of the column do you want it on?) although, this might be less of a problem with it being probably electrical shifting rather than the old fashioned mechanical linkage shifters of the...

First Panam Journey in an Electric RV? Check out "Route Del Sol"

Simpson Desert has already been crossed with a solar (and battery) powered 4x4 (roughly in chronological order of publication): https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/solar-powered-suzuki https://www.unsealed4x4.com.au/solar-powered-simpson-crossing/...

Better to Buy or Rent a 4WD rig/camper van

I reckon it takes about a week to find something that's half decent, and then a bit longer to sort out buying it. At the end, unless you're going to sell well below what you paid for it or market value, it'll take about 3 weeks to sell. So you may as well start to sell it as soon as you buy...

1991 Land Rover Defender 110 Camper

Binz are well known European body builders, best known for converting the Mercedes Benz E class into hearses and limos for the funeral industry, so that bukldmplate makes sense.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Hypothesis 1 for the fall in Land Cruiser and Land Rover sales: During the 1990's the options for 7 seaters in Europe were limited to the Renault Espace/Ford Galaxy (and SEAT Alhambra and VW Sharan)/PSA (and Fiat) equivalent, Mitusbish Shogun/Parjero, Isuzu Trooper (and Vauxhall/Opel Monterey)...

Exploring New Zealand From the Left.

I've read your bits about the Kauri tree with interest - have you seen this paper about them? This is the non-scientific paper version if you want the lighter option!

    Spotted these in North Carolina

How do you define relatively simple? The 1VD (4.5 V8 diesel) is turbocharged (variable geometry) and common rail, and is probably happier on better diesel (my old H will run on cooking oil at a push). They are not infallible, and are becoming notorious for dusting up and also being hard to work...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

As I said, and I had to double check the Lada Niva: Kind of telling when Land Rover has only just caught up with Lada... :P

That Suzuki was only released earlier this year, so definitely still in production. All GVM under 3500kg, so definitely car licence in the EU and Australia (car there is up to 4500kg), ie not a truck licence needed - not sure about USA: Suzuki Jimny (Road legal outside USA) Toyota Land Cruiser...

    SAR Vehicle Photos

Not quite, SAR but some of the local National Parks VDJ79 Land Cruisers being put to use on a back burn: They're working on a 200,000hectares fire in that area, one of number of fires that are covering over 1.6m hectares in NSW at the moment.

    New Defender News

Geely is an interesting partner, as they're the owners of Volvo Cars... who, in the Ford days, were in the same grouping as Jaguar and Land Rover (and Aston Martin). Not as daft as it seems, but Volvo don't have anything other than 4 cylinders engines currently - but Geely and Volvo have some...

    INEOS Grenadier

If they're running BMW engines that are already US market compliant then that will be easier. The US safety regs aren't going to be a huge distance off of a EuroNCAP 5* rating really, and if a Jeep Wrangler that scores 3 or so is saleable then I reckon someone who is designing for a global...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

I known they're on the road (my parents live about an hour from Solihull) but they aren't going to leave them in the open out the back over a weekend, and nor are there going to be a load wating in the yard for transport as they're coming out of Slovakia (IIRC) not Solihull.
