Owen's 2003 mitsubishi montero limited build

Heyo. I can't quite tell, but it looks like you have a good looking rig! Can we have a few shots of the whole truck?

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Thanks man. I like the 1st gens (and older Nissans) a lot. I feel "old" saying it, but I miss simpler times and this truck is pretty simple. No electronic controls, no traction control, and I have warn manual hubs and a 5 speed transmission. It's awesome. I love it. The roof top tent is...

    DMSKI's 2006 Xterra

Nice looking drawers. I've always though that storage would be at a premium in the back of the Xterra but it seems like you're making it work really well. (y)

    r50 vs 1st gen xterra

Hard to find with a 5-speed! I test drove one once but didn't end up buying that one. And yes, that 3.5 is awesome - aluminum block, forged crank, etc, and it's super nice to have the extra torque in 4 lo off-road over the 3.3 in the Xterra. If you decide on going with the R50, see if you can...

    r50 vs 1st gen xterra

Heyo. I've driven both of these vehicles you're considering - the R50 is a much smoother ride with the coils. The suspension components are all much smaller and so if you're planning on doing any big mods (larger tires, lot's of hard wheeling, etc), I'd go with the Xterra. If you're going to...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Wheeling/Camping 1-nighter Went out with my brother from Oklahoma on a few trails this week. If you're familiar with the Colorado Front Range, you'd know them. Ironclads and T-33 Plane Crash trails. These trails are both pretty rocky and technical, with T-33 being a really fun challenge with...

HID Headlight Retrofits SO, I kinda cheated on this upgrade. I had a guy from Instagram (fellow 1st gen Frontier owner) build me the housings. I could have done it myself, but I just didn't have time and I'm currently living at my in-law's house (moving - between houses right now) and my...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Summer Trip Series - Telluride/Ouray (San Juan Mountains) Ok, if you've ever been to the San Juans or seen pictures, you know it's an astonishing place and that there are some awesome 4x4 opportunities there. My brother is getting ready to move out of the state of Colorado, so we decided if...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Summer Trip Series - Steamboat, CO Just got back from a couple trips and I'll post them here. First trip was 3 days, 2 nights near Steamboat, Colorado. We had awesome camp spots, did a recovery of a camper trailer that had slid of the road, and got some mountain biking and hiking in. We got...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Thanks. Yes, I thought of that. I used a hole saw and cut drain holes it in after mounting it up. I also cut a long, narrow slot to allow a ratchet to go through the bottom plate and get on the bolts easier. I will probably get some short mudflaps to put over the front end to *TRY* to keep...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

New Rear Bumper Addition I finally got around to doing this. Modified my Shrockworks rear bumper to make it more of a high-clearance style with additional protection underneath for the rear quarter panels. I cut a straight line across the bed-side from tail light to the wheel well. Did a rough...

My 2016 frontier build and adventure thread!

Haven't had an awning, but when rivets shear off, I usually just replace them with Stainless steel ones since they're stronger than aluminum ones. Just get a rivet gun and throw some new ones in. You can drill the hole out slightly larger if you want to use a larger rivet.

Gas Hood Lifts Couldn't find a hood strut kit for the 98-2004 Frontier. Found a kit in Australia for the equivalent truck ("D22" or "Navara"), but that obviously wasn't an option. Shipping is rather cost-prohibitive on those... I looked up a couple youtube videos for various other vehicles...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Utah Trip Took a trip out to Utah over Memorial Day. 5 of us in 3 vehicles. Didn't quite get into as many 4x4 trails as we wanted, but still saw a bunch of new sights, new hikes, and a few new camp sites too. Moab was pretty well shut down (BLM land/campground all closed for camping), so we...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

I appreciate the encouragement, and yes, I love the look of them too. Partly why I kinda fell in love with it even though I originally purchased it just as a work truck. Working from home has been slow so I've had time to update stuff pretty regularly ever since Coronavirus started. The build...

Stainless Braided Front Brake Lines Another small project done. I called Mike at 4x4parts/Automotive Customizers and ask him to just send me the front lines from the Brake Line Kit for my truck. Ended up being $52 plus shipping, so that's not bad at all. I had already done the rear line when I...

2000 Frontier (Supercharged) Build and Adventures - Babe the Blue Ox

Small Electrical Projects. Battery Terminals Updated Got a few small items finished up. First, I got new battery terminals. With all the added accessories, the OEM cover didn't fit over the (+) terminal, so it was exposed. I wanted to get the (+) terminal covered up to keep myself safe while...
