Actually, I have to admit the diesel Colorado reminded me a bit of my dad's 2012(?) TDI Passat. Nothing like my M1009, but I expected it to be more along those lines given all the work they put into making it not "diesel-y". Opposite ends of the diesel spectrum.
It warrants saying, and I haven't directly said it: I stand corrected. There have been V6 engines designed explicitly for trucks. I still don't like them in trucks, and wish there were an inline 6 option. Lacking that, a diesel inline four isn't a bad option at all.
The 4.3 was used IN trucks, but was not designed FOR trucks; and that goes back a ways. The GM 4.3L V6 was initially designed for the Chevy Malibu by way of unceremoniously lopping two cylinders off the Chevy Small Block (SBC) V8 which was IN TURN initially designed for the Corvette and Bel Air...
Big ol' check on the tested platform. That is a major consideration.
Also correct on the advantages over the Tacoma (and the Tacoma's disadvantages compared to everything else). Toyota is fat and happy, and the market is taking notice. Consumer Reports ranks the Tacoma DEAD LAST among mid-size...
Driver's headrest doesn't look like it was without incident either... They made it, which is far more than would have been uttered just a few short years ago, and that's a testament to modern vehicle safety standards.
What I'm asking for is your particular take on "charm" in light of the previous pages of conversation re: character/soul. I like that as another synonym for the concept. I'm not saying the Tacoma doesn't have charm at all, and I absolutely think it does which is a significant part of why it's...
Definitely have. My dad had a 64 1/2 Mustang convertible when I was very young, and a Miata when I was older.
The thing is, it's only slightly hyperbolic to say I get a sunburn watching the Travel Channel... Red beard, green eyes, eats lots of potatoes... You get the picture. Melanin is not...
Please elaborate on this.
The removable top is unique. Similar to non-front engine placement or... I don't know, cab over? It is in pursuit of an end goal, which I think is "fun" in the case of a Jeep. I'm all for the removable top, even if I can't produce enough melanin to justify it as...
That particular element has been taken on by my wife. We researched the crap out of (everything) car seats, and she brought a tape measure with us to the dealerships. We figured out that her Jeep is about the most limited back seat we've yet seen, so that's sort of the baseline. Things have all...
With a century old house built in at least six identifiable construction phases cut into a canyon wall in the Rocky Mountains AND a baby on the way AND starting another company AND sorta liking to do stuff on the side from time to time, I have to "put some projects back" as my wife likes to say...
I'll be pulling the trigger during the first half of September. Waiting for some "investments to mature" so to speak. It must happen and be in hand before snow flies, and I intend to order from the factory rather than settle for something on the lot. If I'm going to get my 500K, that month or so...
This is true ONLY if you derive your sense of self worth externally and/or derive no further utility from a vehicle. Nearly everyone here derives at least some secondary utility from their vehicle, or they wouldn't be here. Having lived for years in a region where keeping up with the Joneses was...
Car (really, just engine/chassis) with soul story:
At one point in my car rotation history, I had a really nice 57 Karmann Ghia. Beautiful car. I sold it for a lot of money, and at that point was starting to get into the price realm where there was just too much at stake if I made a bad...
The Crestones are not the same as factory Bison.
Do you have those specs somewhere? I've not been able to find them, just read a few places that they're different. AEV stated 33" should be easier to fit with the Bison package than ZR2. It doesn't appear to be anything special about the fender...
Oh, another thing, and it's minor. I like to have a second set of wheels for summer/winter rotation. With my wife's Jeep, we were able to pick up a second set of stock wheels like it was nothing. We're not super concerned with style, so stock is AOK.
What I do care about, is offset and not...
Yay! I'm glad. That was half of the point, with the other half being to hopefully spur conversation like this to really get ME thinking. Success on both counts!
I just saw that Dodge looks like they're about to release some specs on the 3.0L ecoDiesel as found in the 1500 Rams. The 1500 Ram...
Ah! Beat me to it! I minored in philosophy. This is fun. Kant fan, personally.
Meanwhile, let's rein it back in a bit...
It's more or less down to the following:
The Gladiator for sure has character (my preferred moniker for the phenomenon we've been trying to nail down). Its shortcomings are...
