Since no one is replying, I'll add my 0.02. I don't have an FWC and haven't actually checked a slideout bed in person either so take this for what it is.
As far as I can tell, its literally just a piece of 3/4"ish plywood with a piece of pine or oak on the back of it. There are no other...
I think most hard sided campers, at least the common ones, aren't built with light weight or low CG to begin with. While neither of those details change the physical side profile of the camper, they can change the way the camper acts and more importantly how the truck and camper combo react to...
You need a ground wire too.
Also, any concern with the roof being flat and water pooling up on it?
I'll have to check out our local Lowes, the home depot doesn't seem to have as much selection when it comes to lumber.

So you skinned this with plywood, then skinned that with aluminum sheet? Any reason why you didn't just go straight to aluminum skin on metal frame? Seems like you could drop a hundred pounds right there. What thickness plywood?
Build looks great though! Really looking forward to see what...
And how many of those have actually been made? I'm guessing less than 10? Not a lot of competition there. If they can start producing more units and keep the cost down then yes.
What else? Hallmark? Palomino? Wasn't there a GZL camper thing?
Kevin
You are kidding right? Last I looked the gov wasn't mandating the way any camper looked.
Yes, cell phones and computers are a much better example. However, as Graton pointed out the cell phone and computer industry has seen a lot of innovation due to competition. Yes people like there...
And almost all that was mandated by the government at one point or another. Remember the Tucker automobile?
While it may not be perfect in everyone's eyes, it seems to be the one that makes the most sense if your looking in that niche market. They are the sturdiest, longest lasting, best...
But why would a company change their product if they have no competition? Why is it that they have no competition?
The other product examples you give have other factors forcing their evolution. Cars and trucks are heavily mandated by the government for safety and emissions. All of those...
So you want FWC to change a design they've been perfecting for 46yrs(that they can't keep on the shelf), make a heavy investment in composites engineering and prototyping units, retrain there skilled workforce to use composite construction, gaurantee that they will be as good or better than the...
Oddly enough, I've had better luck with CARB compliant metal gas cans than the old style non-CARB cans. I could never get the gasket on the old style to seal up and I'd allways get water and rust in the cans if they were stored outside. The new cans have been stored outside for several years...
