Here is a quick write up on the pressurization system I designed and installed in my Dweller. It is going to be several months before I will be able to comment on the overall effectiveness, but I am cautiously optimistic that this system, combined with my efforts to seal up the Dweller, will...
When @rblitz had issue with his struts, I looked up the numbers on mine. The key specs are: 370mm (14.6") extended length, 130mm (5.1") stroke, 260N (60lb) force. Rblitz said he had located struts on Amazon for about $60 in the case that OBI did not warrant them. I do not know whether he ever...
This is a GREAT post and I could not agree more. With the proper shocks, the proper tongue weight, AND the properly set up tow vehicle, a D13 is a very comfortable rig to tow at highway speeds. I do think a sway bar is an interesting idea, particularly if you could easily disconnect it. I...
Dust Control Project Update - Sealing up the Dweller
It will be some time before I have a chance to check the results, but I am finished with Stage 1 of this project. There are two components to this stage:
Step 1) Sealing up the Dweller. Identifying and remediating items that are...
This looks like a nice point-of-use drinking water solution. It would be helpful if Waterdrop provided a few more performance metrics for the UV purifier. I will be curious to learn what the people around here that are knowledgeable on the subject think of this.
For anyone that has the same clearance issues with their HB9000 heat pump, it is possible to remove and reinstall the filter, but I would not recommend it. In order to remove and reinstall, I had to first rotate it 90 degrees then give it a serious "pretzel bend" in order to get it through the...
An air spring modification will be great. I'll be really interested to see what you can come up with. I took a cursory look at this when I had the springs off and was adding the hockey pucks under my jounce bumpers this past winter. The biggest challenge I see is clearance. The coil spring...
When we first got our Dweller, I did not really see the point of having the outside faucet on the front of the trailer. I now find it to be very handy and we use it often. A few days ago, however, I made a discovery - the hose threads on my Dweller’s faucet are not 3/4“ garden hose thread...
Other than the clearance on the inlet side (75mm vs. the 200mm recommendation), everything on my installation seems to be done per the installation instructions. I might be missing something, if so, it is not obvious.
You likely have a bad cell(s). Did you look over @gendlert posts #309 and #335? He had a bad cell in one battery and he walks though the procedure for testing.
I have not moved any equipment around. This is how it came. I have noticed that in different production runs of the D13 they have relocated the equipment several times. I am not sure what they are trying to optimize. The build date per my VIN tag is 07/2021. All in all, I am pretty...
That Klein IR gun is the one I have on order. I "think" bearing temps should be below 200F. Temperature is hard to measure and brake usage is also going to affect the measurement. It is important is to get the baseline "good" temp for your wheels measured with your gun. Once you get...
I agree with both statements. Those bearings don't appear to have ever been packed with grease. I have also considered carrying an IR temp gun for checking wheel temps and I just went and ordered one. They are so inexpensive now and also handy for checking the griddle temp.
Wow! I'm so glad to hear that no one was injured. That could have gone much worse.
I'm having a hard time visualizing how the outer roller bearing could fail in a manner that would result in wheel separation. If it were a bad bearing, the typical failure would be for the bearing to seize and...
Here are a couple of pictures. The other side is a mirror image. As you can hopefully see in the picture, I did have to raise the can mount up so that it was even with the top of the frame. I have it sitting on 3/4-inch square tube. It is all a really tight fit, but it does fit and both the...
