Thanks! Yes the cables are not DOT standard but for rock crawling, it is a risk I must take.
The ugly welds are mine, the nice welds are my buddy Dave's
The new tongue also has a 2" receiver to allow a variety of hitches. I used cable instead of safety chain to minimize rattle and installed the cable mount on top for clearance. I also fabbed a lift handle out of a Honda XR75 kickstand and a half of a leaf spring shackle from my last trailer...
Phase two included cutting off the old thin-walled tongue and installing a new heavy 1/4" thick wall tongue. The old tongue was attached below the frame deck and I wanted to raise the new tongue to be both level with my Jeep hitch and allow more rock clearance.
Fabbing and welding:

This started as a trailer of unknown origin. It had 13" trailer wheels and Al-Ko torsion axle.
The tub and lid are all steel. Its small and rugged so I decided to make it a rock crawler trailer for behind my Jeep. The restomod will go in three phases. I just finished phase two. Here is...
So the Acorn logo is not from the UK trailer company.
However, the logo on my trailer does match the logo for the Scamp fiberglass trailers (which I would love to find). Scamp, Casita, and Acorn were all similar models and the Acorn logo is definitely a match. My current hypothesis is that...
Al-ko actually started in Europe but as mentioned above is also sold in in US as Dexter.
As far as Acron in the UK, I sent them an email with pics of the trailer and their response was this:
"Hi Todd
This is not our Acorn Logo so does not come from us so can't be of any assistance to you with...
So far I have the frame done. I wanted to fit the take-off wheels from my jeep when it was stock. They are 31x10s so the Timbren axles needed some offset. This involved just making and outrigger block and a lift block. The toungue may need some reinforceing and it will be getting a Max...
I picked it up last year for $200 on craigslist. There are no identifying numbers stamped anywhere on the frame. It came with 13" wheels and an Al-Ko torsion axle. The tub is all metal with metal fenders and has a hinged removable metal lid. The lid measures 47" wide by 50.5" long. Other...
Not much more. It was a kit on ebay that came with 4 cameras and a 4way split screen monitor. I am only using two of the four cameras right now. Each camera came with its own hole saw. Cameras are waterproof. It remains to be seen if they will be useful on the trail but it cant hurt.
