    My Grand Vacation begins

As long as you get the GoPro videos loaded onto your iPhoto, it should automatically import the videos when you first open iMovie. There's a little popup after opening iMovie, it should look like this: Be sure to select "Now"...better yet, just stop by an Apple Store. Surely there's dozens...

Ruins and Rust: Texas to Patagonia, AND BEYOND, in an older 4runner

Finally, it was time to cross into Baja. We were crossing at the Tijuana border. I later read this is one of the busiest border crossings in the world. You don't say? As we approached the border we felt like cattle being herded into a pen. We were asked a few questions, the border agent...

Ruins and Rust: Texas to Patagonia, AND BEYOND, in an older 4runner

finally realizing how painful it is to upload pictures in Latin America... Brenton is usually the one writing the updates, and that's fine with me (Shannon), but I figure every now and then I'll throw in my two cents and let you know what I'm thinking about this epic adventure of ours. Lunch...

Ruins and Rust: Texas to Patagonia, AND BEYOND, in an older 4runner

Sorry folks, we've run a little behind on our updates...we've been very busy having fun :) We're currently in the wine country outside of Ensenada, Baja Norte getting to know some Muskoka Foundation friends. Thanks for the road blessings, we had a blast staying with you guys! Very...

    My Grand Vacation begins

Note to self: Where? Cuenca, Ecuador When? Carnival Why? Awesome waterfights and silly-string ...or do you suppose I could find this anywhere in Latin America on Carnival? I can't wait to find out.

    Team Equipt's "Central America Expedition"

You guys must've had VIP passes at Cheeze n' Pizza to be able to park that close to El Castillo :coffeedrink:

From Alaska To Brazil - Brits do the Americas

I believe James and Lauren from Home on the Highway are in the Lago de Atitlan area...I'm actually really surprised you guys haven't bumped into them yet, you keep hitting the same areas around the same time! We were hoping to catch up to you guys, but we're falling pretty far behind so far...

    Team Equipt's "Central America Expedition"

Our ears are burning! We'd love to bump into Paul, Beverly, and Ben on our way South. I'm not so sure it will materialize though...our recent detour has delayed any border crossings for at least a few weeks (although we're a stone's throw from Canada :smiley_drive:). For now, we're...

Ruins and Rust: Texas to Patagonia, AND BEYOND, in an older 4runner

The Toyota actually has a few thousand less than 258k. I swapped in a gauge cluster from an SR5 so I could have a tach and full gauges. I planned on waiting until the mileage matched exactly, but I got impatient with around 3k difference. The engine was rebuilt at around 205k because it...

"The Border Runner" build thread: '87 4runner built for epic PanAm journey

we've been really busy lately and we have lots of updates to post in the build thread, but the good news is we're finally on the road! We've started a new thread for our journey in the "In Progress Adventures" section. Ruins and Rust: Texas to Patagonia AND BEYOND If you go there you will...

Ruins and Rust: Texas to Patagonia, AND BEYOND, in an older 4runner

It's finally our turn!, we are Brenton and Shannon, a young couple experiencing a quarter-life crisis (for lack of a better explanation). No longer satisfied with Texas-life, we set a deadline to leave this place come hell or high water. With our careers on pause, we've decided to seize the...

San Francisco to Ushuaia in an 87 4Runner.

Glad to hear you guys made the best out of your chaotic day. Still sounds like it was a positive experience, minus the $175...think of it as paying $175 for this beautiful picture of your view, and the most-expensive campsite ever. :sombrero:

    World Apprentice: Volunteer Overlander

We had dinner recently with someone who backpacked around the Gap on foot in the 80's. He mostly stuck to the coast, and it sounded like a machete is a must...but where there's a will, there's a way. :lurk:

Awesome idea, why didn't I think of that! I could care less who plays or what commercials will end up on Youtube eventually.

unURBAN Adventures - Alaska to Argentina to AFRICA!

Amazing. You're so fortunate to have been able to see a corner of the world that few of us ever will. Let me know if they need an EMT and a trauma nurse to work at the arctic camp, 14 or so months from now. We can shovel snow like it's nobody's business :coffeedrink:

Gratemates....is there a comprable stateside product?

Wow, that's way better than my 48"x12"x2" fiberglass grates at 18 lbs each. :Wow1: Oh well, it's hard to beat free!

"The Border Runner" build thread: '87 4runner built for epic PanAm journey

No kidding. It seems like the perfect compromise. I've been watching that craigslist post for the past month . I'm going to wait and see what our loaded weight adds up to, then I'll decide if it's feasible to get that ARB bumper...it is a sweetheart of a deal. If it's gone when we're...

If I had the time, skill, and resources, this would be my solution for front/rear winch mounts and the ability to carry a cargo basket when necessary. We haven't left yet, but hopefully we'll shove off at the end of this week. There's still a bunch of tiny loose ends to take care of.
