Okay, this seems a little silly to me but I can't fight it any longer...We already have a GoPro with a bunch of the right accessories (LCD screen, monopod, extra mounts, etc) and we have a Nikon S8100 point and shoot (I feel like it already takes good enough 1080p HD video but oh well).
She...
Thanks for the tips Marcus! La Ruta Lenca looks pretty awesome, I hope we swing thru that neck of the woods.
I believe I saw some of Steve's report from your trip, looked pretty awesome and I remember admiring your 4runner. Hopefully you'll keep up with our trip and shoot us ideas and...
Great idea! We're selfish though, so we're going to get started 10 months early just to beat the crowds...
Very cool. That should earn competitors serious bonus points, considering most donated emergency vehicles that head south are in serious mechanical peril...they tend to get funneled down...
if airing down doesn't do the trick and you're REALLY stuck, you can winch off your spare tire buried DEEP in the sand. Obviously a last resort, and obviously you want the tire buried pretty well because you don't want a spare tire flying at you!
SOLD locally to Expo member "spallet". Great guy who had an impressive collection of drool-worthy rides. He drove this Landcruiser up from Colombia and had some great tips for our upcoming trip...Thanks Mauricio, it was nice talking to you!
I've got two of the smaller model ARB air compressors I need to sell. FYI, these are too small to air up your tires but could maybe be used for the right onboard air design, not sure. I picked these up locally on Craigslist quite a while ago and realized I couldn't use it for what I needed. I...
By the way, here's a free upgrade for your overland vehicle:
Just carefully insert your tasty beverage at an angle like so...apply leverage in a downward fashion...and enjoy. Don't forget to catch the cap and Tread Lightly. Now give thanks to the Japanese engineers who surely designed this...
Sorry I've been really quiet on this thread lately...I gave up on the soft top ideas. It was becoming too complicated and it really distracted me from the more important tasks at hand. The time and money it would've taken to do all the fabrication just wasn't worth it. Moving on...

What??? Sorry to hear that bud. Did the hitch pin mount have anything to do with our modifying it? Oops. Any pictures/video of said "gettin it"?
So is your fuel tank leaking too? If that fuel tank has a small enough leak, you can rub a bar of soap on the tank to temporarily plug it.
Ben, sounds like you have a great trip planned. It will be fun to read the report afterwards!
RMP&O, how long would you expect the turnaround time to be for the USDA APHIS?
Great response diesel toyota. I was mostly curious how far south we'll see your travels take you, but I'll just patiently wait and see :sombrero:

^^^Nicholas Rapp's site is the best reference I've found so far in regards to shipping Buenos Aires to Cape Town. To save you some internet time, here's the cliff notes from TransWorld Expedition's shipping process:
I read somewhere that Malaysian Airlines has the best rates for flights. I...
Amazing! I think it's safe to say that after a few months in Antartica, the patrol will be back on the road...the suspense will be worth the wait to find out where. Looking forward to seeing more from the frozen continent and whatever comes next.
It's been ages since I've been thru St. George, but for some reason I always thought of it being the real-life location for Joe Dirt's "Silvertown"...
Keep it up! Glad to hear you guys are hitting up the North Rim, looking forward to seeing more.
