First canoe trip of the 09 season today. It was a joint trip sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Canoe Club, Poudre Paddlers and the Rocky Mountain Sea Kayak club. 54 boats paddled the South Platte river from Evans to Kersey. It was running about 400cfs. Beautiful day. First picture is mislabeled...
Anyone ever seen an expedition fifth wheeler? I posted a thread in Fireside the other day about the Nairn buses. The Nairn brothers went to fifth wheel buses for their Damascus to Baghad run after they found fixed frame buses too rigid for the desert. It got me thinking about whether anyone...
This discussion began in my cargo rack thread but I thought the instructions were worth a thread of their own. The effort it takes to tilt the cab on an FG is determined by the load on a spring(?) or torsion bar(?) at the front right side of the cab. There is a bolt into the side of the 'can'...
I decided to try my hand at dismounting a tire by hand today. I've never done it before except on a bicycle but used to watch a guy in a wheelchair change tires by hand in the tire shop he ran out of his garage.
Tire was an LT 235/75 16 on a Chevy rim. It went pretty well. I bought 2 Harbor...

Not cheap.
If this is the CEO of Europa in Santa Fe, I once owned a Mercedes 409d camper that once belonged to him (according to the person I bought it from).
Prior owner of my Fg must have had something mounted on the cab roof since there are mounting screws to which I could easily attach some artificial gutters for a roof rack. I'd like to put a cargo basket up there. Anyone have a source for a nice sized cargo basket or cargo rack that would fit...
Since there have been a couple of pretty well known expedition campers built with Bigfoots, this news may be of interest.

I posted this in another thread but I think it's worthy of a separate topic. Previously, Stratos suspension seats designed for small cabover trucks were only available to Australians (I think). But it looks like they have now entered the US market. They're only marketing the seats for Isuzu's...
I believe I have enough room to carry a spare between the cab and service body on my FG. I'm thinking a carrier which bolted to the frame just at the bellhousing between the cab and body, which tilted down and let the tire sit on the ground for removal but could be lifted up and pinned in place...
I posted this in the for sale section but I thought people might not see it there. Could be useful for parts or as a basic chassis for a build or even for the drivetrain. I didn't realize that MB was turbo'ing their diesel trucks in the mid 60's. Not mine...
