Love those draft/TB crosses, we have several. English saddle and double bridle or Aussie saddle and reins and lead rope? I have English, Western and Aussie saddles and actually have a more secure seat in the English saddle.
I also have a '96 7.3 CC - Wish I could buy my truck new again...
Search for "lightweight battery box" on ebay for bolt-on or weld-on frame boxes. Probably also a good idea to put a rubber or metal shield in front of the box (as on my truck) to block stuff thrown by the front tire.
I've got a 2001 diesel Express van, and diesels need two batteries. The factory location for the second battery is on the outside of the frame rail about 2 feet behind the driver's seat.
If you have no home base, a lot of full-timers join the Escapee's club which will give them a TX, FL or SD residency with mail forwarding and many RV discounts. I'm not a member, but it looks like a neat idea. https://escapees.com/
The Operator Technical Manuals for the different series of trucks have drawings of the different models within the series.
M35A2 2.5-ton models (actually called the M44 series trucks) start at page 20 https://www.nsncenter.com/Library/TM/TM-9-2320-209-10-1?PageNumber=20

I think you need to check the dash data plate again.
The M35a2 is a 2.5 ton cargo truck (deuce-and-a-half) from the '60s-'80s, and if it has drop sides, it is a M35a2C. They have multi-fuel engines and top speeds are about 50 mph.
The M35A3 from the '90s has auto trans, Cat 3116 diesel...
Great rig and photos. That M101 trailer is very versatile - I love mine (identical to yours still with the military cover) that I towed 1200 miles through the Smoky Mtns in TN, NC and Georgia in Oct.
Sorry for the late reply, but I've been on the road for a couple of weeks. I checked my truck and I can find no evidence of any bushings. The bed was mounted directly to the frame.
Great mods, PG!
I checked under my M1031 and also found the aluminum bed mounts were torn. I guess metal fatigue with a less than ideal design is giving issues after 30 years. Thanks for the heads up.
Love that front receiver hitch, every truck should come with one standard. Makes launching a boat or moving a trailer child's play, and a cargo rack also is a great platform to work on the engine.
My wife and I ride horses on forest roads frequently and never even thought about spikes in the water crossings. That would permanently maim a horse riding that trail, and if it threw it's rider onto the spikes when the horse stepped on one, the rider could easily be killed!
That would be...
Mine is a Draw-Tite on a '96 F250, that also has tow rings at the ends of the crossbar, I think because I had to remove the tow hooks to install the hitch.
Very envious of your ability to spend time in each area. I've been to many of the same locations, but with no time to really get out and hike, or camp long enough to absorb the essence (for lack of a better term).
I normally don't like the newer thin tires as I don't feel they can be aired down for rough travel while still protecting the rim. However, it's hard to ignore how well yours grip the ground :hehe:
I've got a front receiver hitch on my F250 that is handy for moving trailers around, and...
