I really thought about going this route but couldn't find an exped mat that was the perfect width for my 48" wide RTT, unfortunately. Either they were too wide or too narrow.

Excellent, thank you for that. I'll update a thread dealing with all 270deg awnings. If I may, would you please take couple of pics of the area around your spare tire area? I'm curious to see how the coverage is in that area, which is where I do my cooking.
Those of you with the OVS awning, do you have a way to measure the weight of the awning plus the brackets? I keep seeing 72# but I wonder if that's the shipping weight that includes packaging, cardboard, etc.
