    Bike Surf Trip

I'd also be very concerned about strapping a 9' longboard onto an xtracycle and heading down hwy 1. Way too narrow for the blasts of wind that will come off the trucks/rvs and push against that big sail. I've used an xtracycle to cruise around SD with a boards ranging from my longboard 9'6" down...

    ExPo Build Project: Salsa Fargo

I ran one on a Ti Litespeed for a number of years, and never had any issues with chain tension. Maybe you drop the hammer too hard?? -Chris

    ExPo Build Project: Salsa Fargo

How much tweaking of the disc caliper position(if any) when swapping gearing? I like more gears, and not having to swap out wheel/derailleurs/shifters/chain/run cables/etc, for any of my bikes that will see a load/distance frequently, but I can understand what your going for and I appreciate...

    New Bilstein Reservoi shocks

I've got a few months on the 5160's in my dodge 2500 CTD. Compared to OEM, it's night and day. I think I paid just under $700 for all 4. Washboard roads are so much smoother now, and it helped alot with the bodyroll from my camper. Definitely not the same as Kings, but also less than half the...

    ExPo Build Project: Salsa Fargo

I had an ENO hub and one of their singlespeed freewheels about 6 years ago and really liked them. And of course their cranks...back in the day! I have a hard time getting past the square taper bb these days though.... Looking good! -Chris

    Interbike

I've only gone 3 times as an exhibitor, versus the 12-15 time as a retailer. There is plenty to rant about in this industry, but I still enjoy seeing old friends and what's new. -Chris

    ExPo Build Project: Salsa Fargo

Those Fargo's are really neat! I have a similar idea in my Surly Crosscheck. I run 3x9 w/ 30,40,50 tooth chainrings and a custom stacked 13-30 cassette. I run 29x1.75 tires on this rig, and I find that gearing is great for road and trail with a decent load. I've experimented with several...

    Interbike

Things that stand out in my mind from day one: Surly has an even fatter tired bike than the Pugsley now called the Moonlander(holds a 4.7" tire) & a 29" wheel version of the Troll called the Ogre(this looks like a fun bike to me). Ultegra electric shifting is pretty cool especially when you...

    Project bug out!

That's exactly what I'm thinking about. Similar to a tailgate it would drop down for loading the camper, but then I would like it to be able to swing away also for when the camper is on. But that's alot of pivots. I've got to build my new bumper and rail/steps first! <Thread hijack over> -Chris

    Interbike

I'm leaving for Vegas in a couple hours, anyone else heading out? Unfortunately I'm not going to make it to the dirt demo, again. Looks like rain is heading that way... -Chris

    Project bug out!

I've seen quite a few swingaways like that, but now how do you unload a camper without removing the rack and spare? -Chris

    Project bug out!

I'm digging this settup! I'm wondering about your traction mats, and how you mounted them. What kind of reinforcement did you put behind the sheetmetal and what are those posts/pins? I'm also curious how your tire swingout is going to work. I want to do a swingout like a tiregate, but I remove...

    '06 Dodge 2500 Steering Issues

Update Well I've got an update on my steering clunking. I was cruising the Cumminsforum a couple nights ago and found this message. The problem sounded very similar to mine, so yesterday afternoon I split my steering shaft in half and packed as much trailer bearing grease into the upper...

    '06 Dodge 2500 Steering Issues

It's really only noticeable when going slow. Are you suggesting the steering shaft above the steering gear box? I've twisted that guy several times from under the truck and I can't sense any play in there... -Chris
