Air brake canister 1993 917 AF

As noted, even US MB dealers cannot access the truck parts list. The gentleman who sold me the wheels for my 917AF recommends these folks. I have no personal experience, but hope to take my truck to them next year. Link:https://aignertrucks.com/ Best wishes.

    Bimobil EX480 Mercedes Atego 1023

Agree completely. but do remember that even "short" distances in the US can be stupidly long. My daughter is a quick 350 miles and my son is only 1600 miles. ;) But, if you are talking about a serious, multi-month trip, you are absolutely correct. It is much, much nicer to limit the number of...

You can hear a radio in an LN2? :ROFLMAO: "The Atego is a compact, simple and stable platform and I have never heard any complaints about the chassis. Support from Mercedes is available in virtually every town/city, and every independent truck garage is familiar with the Atego, and servicing...

    Bimobil EX480 Mercedes Atego 1023

See my original comment. This has certainly been our experience. If you are looking at Europe, then lower speed limit (not that I have seen it respected) and the shorter distances might make this less of an issue. But all of this is moot if you want a US registered vehicle. Visiting Bimobil...

Swapping Lead acid for LiPo on my "house" battery, alternator charging questions

No. A DC-DC charger is a totally different animal. (The ACR its a voltage sensing relay; a battery to battery charger is an actual battery charger.) It will NOT allow the camper battery to connect to the starter battery. You can wire a by-pass, but you probably want something like an...

Swapping Lead acid for LiPo on my "house" battery, alternator charging questions

The voltage settings for the Blue Sea ACR will not work well with a lithium iron battery. The combine voltage is around 13.2v; this is not a problem. But the disconnect voltage is around 12.7vl and most lithium iron batteries will never drop that low, so the ACR may never open. This could lead...

    Bimobil EX480 Mercedes Atego 1023

For the record, there a quite a few folks lurking around this forum who have long, overland experience with beasts like these. Most have been very happy, but most would agree with me on the limitations. -- Owned a 1990 MB 917 AF with a fiberglass/foam composite camper since 2017. It has made...

Only AUX batteries getting charged, OEM batteries are not

Do clean up all of those corroded terminals. (And I would still lose the diode isolator! ) Bravo on finding the real problem!

over power is it an issue

With the possible exception of older Max Air fans, all 12v accessories are fine up to around 15v. And most run a lot better at 13v, at least.

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Should work. Later on, look at these options: -- REDARC Manager 30, or, -- REDARC BCDC-1240D. Either lets you integrate your alternator and solar panels. (There is a whole discussion to be had on this issue, but, for a simpler, smaller set up like yours, it is well worth considering.) Yes...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Go for the thinnest mattress you can. TIP: Lie one the foam, don't kneel. You may find that as little as 2" is plenty. Makes life much easier. Also consider a Froli under mattress, or similar. Lets air circulate, beats mold. (Gulf coast can get soggy.) You REALLY want to go with a lithium iron...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Couple of comments: -- I was thinking of a battery inside the actual pickup bed, under the sleeping bed. There are batteries, like Battle Born's "Gamechanger", that come with mounting tabs which would make this very easy. You could cobble up a plywood (or similar) box as the base for your...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Probably much more geek than dbhost wants but: -- All chargers have a "profile", even a constant voltage/constant current is, technically, a profile, especially if the charger has a logic to shut itself off automatically. -- Many (most?) lithium gurus preach that lithium batteries don't need...
