There was a thread a couple years ago... I even tried to track down the actual maker of the tent portion and never did get anywhere :-( That being said, I had moved towards the "van life" so I will be selling my two FlipPac's shortly :)
I worked with Brian at SwayAway, they have torsion bars for the FlipPac.... AND now hinge kits. The new kits are way beefier and will eliminate all those pesky shims, here are some links to the parts you may need:
Sway-A-Way hinge kit
Sway-A-Way torsion bar
Hope this helps!
Just fyi to all the questions about the mold. The mold is what is used to manufacture the tops. The company making these (East Coast Customs) stopped doing tops and I bought the last topper and the mold along with it. This would allow making more tops or even making some very custom inserts...
Hey Luke, any photos or info about your install? In particular what "gusset" material did you use to attach the topper?... screws or rivets?... Any info would be helpful!
I am no longer considering this sale pending, the current interested party is 2000 miles away and reluctant to put down even a $100 deposit. SO.... first come first served.
I'm Still interested in selling the mold as well (both for $2500)
Luke D, thanks for the post up!.... Yes, if we had not gone the way of a Sprinter HighTop we'd be cutting the roof off our Ford right now!
BTW, yours looks GREAT!
The Adventure Van Expo was a lot of fun and we saw way too many things we now need ;-) Just happen to pop up for a flight... can you count how many vans were there??! Lake Tahoe is always a draw for any type of event!
Just responded to your PM... yes, if you are going to do it GO BIG.... should be good for 6'2" person, maybe more depending on floor and ceiling thickness.
