Need a little antenna help. 2m/70cm

You can't do that. That makes too much sense. No seriously, that is the best idea I've seen all morning. Nicely done.

    The DiscoDavis Sandglow Thread

Side note: Hop over to defendersource. There is a guy, Robert Davis (antics aside...) who sells a water separator kit for TDIs. Removing water from diesel is always good and will prevent bad times.

    Using two batteries in parallel

"Can I use my deep-cycle battery as a starting battery?" Yes. Used my yellow top many years like that. No problems.

Changing a flat on lifted trucks: tall bottle jack or hi-lift?

Been using a bottle jack out a Land Rover Discovery 2. The stock jack for the RRCs, D1s, D2s, Defenders, and P38 range rovers are awesome. They are already curved to be placed under an axle. Good handle length. I mention this because these jacks are typically readily available in parts...

    Using two batteries in parallel

I ran two optimas in parallel for 10 years. A Yellow top and a Red Top. No problems, no solenoids, cut offs, etc. Just two batteries connected via a #2 gauge wire. The yellow top was brand new, while the red top was 2nd hand. No problems. After 10 years, the yellow top died, then the red top...

1961 Land Rover adventure...'cause Rovering is always an adventure

I've found the opposite. They worked well in the swamps (well, right up until the axles started dragging) and other muddy situations. But being bias ply, they sucked on the road, especially in the winter as they would flat spot overnight, and just never round out on a short commute. Either...

Jaguar Land Rover a huge loser in potential new border tax

Or the 20% is used as leverage to get the other country (aka, Mexico) to drop their 20% tax. But then again Mexico could be flooded with "cheap American Products". Which is funny to consider.

Anybody want to sell a ARRL Ham Radio License Manual?

I've got Gordo's manual. I can probably ship it to you for whatever it costs to ship it. That plus online testing is what I used for studying.

Jaguar Land Rover a huge loser in potential new border tax

Uh huh. And I'm sure they dropped the price when the dollars came down against the pound...oh wait... With such a tax, it would force high volume manufacturers to consider building and sourcing within the US. The market here in the US is too big for JLR to ignore.

1961 Land Rover adventure...'cause Rovering is always an adventure

Just FYI, those are goodyear Xtra Grips. I had them. Stupid good traction off road and in the mud. They just grabbed everything. Pretty awesome.

    Discovery 5 offroad

I'd like to see it in some capable hands. Thank goodness it has good traction control because those guys were stopping mid-obstacle, etc. Also don't they have a rear differential locker? Seems like they weren't working very much.

Cummins 2.8L Diesel "Repower" engine kit

Oh it is. The 4BT is a 4.5L engine, this is obviously a 2.8L engine. It is physically a much smaller engine. Size wise, I'd say its about in between a Jeep 6 cyl and a Jeep 4 cyl, if that ballparks you on size. You can look up dimensions somewhere. But the fact is that the 2.8 is smaller and...

    Warn hubs

Call these guys. They've been doing Warn stuff longer than I've been alive. Very helpful and everyone that works there drives some sort of lifted 4x4 to work...to then drive home...to work on their wheeler. http://www.clemson4wheel.com/

    Going out Solo, Recovery options.

I travel solo all the time. People flake on me left and right. Not going to sit at home and wait for others to figure out if they can sneak out of the house without their wife noticing. It really depends. There are a ton of trails around here that are easy. I typically don't worry about them...

How many miles is "too many" for an LR3

Mileage is fine. Have a local independent shop inspect it, see why it REALLY has depreciated so much. If there isn't anything too wrong with it, give the man his money and drive away.

Backup Parts and Gear to Carry on Expedition

Its best to do research on what commonly breaks on your particular vehicle. For my old rover, I carry spare ignition parts. Fuel pump rebuild kit, various nuts and bolts, and standard wrenches and sockets. For my Toyota 4Runner, really, the steering is my main concern. So I carry extra TREs and...

    Truth about new Defender

It'll probably be something built on the discovery 5 platform. Independent suspension and open top. Solid mall cruiser. Also does anyone have a REAL photo of the new defender and not just a recycled photo of the DC100?

Question: Where did you get the switches and lamps from? I was originally going to put new fancy rocker switches in my 109, but these look correct.
