Building 10 Disco 2 vehicles for an expedition company..

OMG that photo of the transfer box gears..... those flattened ones used to be actual teeth? What the hell causes that?! Regarding the ABS, is your plan similar to or the same as what Falconworks has to replace that shuttle thingy and permanently fix the 3 amigos issue while retaining all...

    Compos with 285/60/18 for LR4?

Glad to hear you got the compos. It's the "right" thing to do on the lr4 - no question. What many people don't consider is how spacers, even just the 1"/25mm pushes the tire so far out you lose a ton of clearance that you'd rather save for a taller tire. The compos have only a centimeter or...

Building 10 Disco 2 vehicles for an expedition company..

LOL No, 6-2 is most certainly not average. Anyway, there are seat rail extensions for the D1 so maybe they would work for these as well.

    Compos with 285/60/18 for LR4?

That size is crap. Had it first many yrs ago. Best size period on 18” wheels is 265/65-18. You don’t gain anything useful on the 285/60 but you do get tighter clearances which is not what anyone wants. The more square section ratio of the 265/65 also provides noticeably more stable high speed...

Does the rep of "unreliable" still hold true?

Never stranded in my D1, DII, or LR3 either but “Eat brakes”? No, your driving does, but the lr3 doesn’t. I’m on just the 3rd set in 2017 at 135,000 so it’s you, not the vehicle. I’m tired of hearing this type of nonsense from people on auto forums.

Does the rep of "unreliable" still hold true?

LOL Try researching the model changes even as easily as on wiki and you’d find its retarded to include the Disco II with the later models. The only thing the same is the brand name. The answer to the post is D2-yes, lr3/4 not even close, no. Yes, AM an current models expert in these having...

    LR4 - remove 3rd row seats

I’d rather have all that stuff tucked away than use it up w easy to manage water carrying. I usually have 4 gallons in two rotopax containers behind passenger seat. They just fit there sideways like it was meant to be. They will both fit in standard bumper mounted Jerry canholders too. water...

    LR4 - remove 3rd row seats

Mine have been out for many yrs. I never got around to building a hard floor surface but all Of this is under the rubber cargo mat from back of 2bd row seats to rear tailgate edge. Rubber mat sits at same level flush with sides. All items are below that original floor level an under the mat...

LR3/LR4 owners: What height do you set your suspension?

You have, in fact, lost 1/2” of suspension extension by setting the height there. Rolling the fire roads is one thing, no big deal, but theres no need for that all the time. You can save the setting and just go to its +12.5mm when needed, which is never (lol) If taking the time to drop tire...

    2010 L322 on 18"s...

I’d have already tried it if an easy 16 were available but the center bore is why we can’t just test a Disco II wheel. Bore too small i think or not big enough for assorted, I can’t recall. If only there were an early eurospec v6 16 to try.

LR3/LR4 owners: What height do you set your suspension?

Why would you want to or need to roll 1/2” higher all the time? You loose ideal suspension travel by doing so but to gain nothing except looks. Are we missing a more purposeful reason? What size tire are you trying to use?

    LR3 / Discovery 3 Coil Conversion +2" Question

How is there no down travel? This is not like when people overuse rods to stretch out the struts. The guys above are using taller steel springs and damper kits and last post was guy asking about spacers on top. I think he’d still have pretty much all the down travel the strut has built in but...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

Lol give it time...you were warned. For other people considering a new tire, IMO, it’s a simple matter of fact that using non E load off road is just a matter of time for failure to occur. Also keep in mind it’s not a good idea to run non E tires too low on psi. There are multiple benefits...

LR3/LR4 owners: What height do you set your suspension?

A-I think they are 50mm. If I’m wrong, I’ll have to redo everything LOL B-no, you have to actually use shortened rods to offset the spacer effect on what the height sensors read. If not, then they find near edge of or out of range too easily which results in fault mania... The goal for now is...

LR3/LR4 owners: What height do you set your suspension?

Hmm, not sure I did that. 1-the ride height in ground to body is much higher than factory by the 50mm strut spacer plus any tire size gains in height. 2-The strut itself is right at factory neutral length. Not extended, not compressed. 3-The hub center to fender flare edge is factory plus 50mm...

Leaking air struts cause suspension fault?

nobody that i had seen sells the struts WITH dust/mud boots. Yet, there is a "genuine" land rover boot kit for the front as well as what IS delivered on vehicles for the rear. Weird, no lr3/4 have front boots on WHY?? Anyway, they're easy to put on when the strut is fully removed. There...

LR3/LR4 owners: What height do you set your suspension?

Wut?! ;) Blaise, you just don't need to be running the struts all the time or on the highway any higher than factory neutral, period. There is also ZERO reason to do so other than thinking it looks cool but when you're driving it, you can't appreciate that so who is there to impress? ;) I'd...

    2010 L322 on 18"s...

it's possible the hub bore or something small is different on RR 03-05. i can tell you that the rr from 07 on wheels mount perfectly with an lr3 and therefor also an lr4. i had RRsport "stormer" 20's on my lr3 briefly and used a 285/50 tire which just barely fit against the upper control arm...
