Yeah I am really excited about it, part of being able to travel for me is having a reliable car, and since fuel is only going to get more expensive one that is good on gas. I certainly wont be able to get to all the places I could in a Rover, but there are plenty of places to explore with the TDI!!

Well if all goes well I'll be picking up an 05 Jetta TDi 5spd on Wednesday. No so good offroad,but 45mpg will be awesome on road trips!!

Somewhat, I realize that it's not a true solid axle 4x4 - however I like what Land Rover does with their interiors etc so I figured I'd check into the Freelander

I had a brand new 2005 Impreza 2.5RS for three years, overall the best car I've ever owned, and they are actually on my short list. Figured I would get the scoop on Freelanders though as well.

Opinions? Just sold my Disco because I don't need as capable of a 4x4, I really don't do much off-roading and my desire for a 4x4 (or awd) is simply for going places with poor roads, not so much no roads.... However the one place I do need it to be able to go is the beach...

Going to swap some stuff around this coming weekend, I'll update when I do. My main goal/purpose for wanting a Land Rover is more for camping/beach driving than hardcore wheeling anyways, so I think that even if I do go back to stock it will still suit my needs perfectly.

Yeah, I've owned and raced/autox quite a few different sports cars over the years. Not really looking to improve fuel mileage, just make it more comfortable and stable at highway speeds (65-75mph) I am thinking that I may try it with some different tires, and putting the stock sway bars back on.

I am actually running 235/85/16 Trxus MTs now ;)
