    A 109 for sale

Nice truck....But all that work and keep a 2.25 and stock axles? What a shame. For $110k I'll sell you both of mine. They have real engines and real axles in both of them.

    Fan clutch

I give them a quick rap with an air-chisel with a sharp bit. It's the quick impact that you need to get them loose. Glad you got yours off.

    109 Expedition rig build

North Maine Woods, Redux Once again Wendy and I will be pointing the 109 north and heading back to The North Maine Woods for a couple of weeks. We leave Friday. Wish us luck! The truck has been running flawlessly this year and I really feel good about the trip. Still, the number for John...

    Canadian Disco 2 Build

Just go buy a used transmission, slap it in and be done with it. They can be had for $500-$600 all day long. Pick one up this afternoon and you can be back on the road by Sunday. Please don't make us agonize over eight months of posts about what manual transmission you're going to attempt to...

You need to find a new brand of truck. Actually, probably a new hobby altogether.....

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

I carry a rattle snake in case I come across any bad guys. Question: How big of a rattle snake do you need to stop a grizzly bear attack?

    Mercedes W123 Expedition 300TD

Awesome! In my opinion the 123 body and 616/617 engines were the best cars ever built. The only trouble with this is word will get out how great these cars and these engines are and the cheap and plentiful supply will start to dry up! You're my new hero! Great vision and execution!

Short Block Chevy in a D1?

It's been done, but sticking with the stock engine is going to be exponentially cheaper than doing an engine conversion.

    Help me pick a handgun

AB SO LUT LEY!!!! For the money and your use, you won't beat this. This isn't going to be a shooter. It'll spend 99.9% of its time locked up in your truck. You want a revolver for sure.

What's the deal with the Freelander?

The transmissions are junk. A timing belt will cost you $1800 to change (There are 3 belts....One is $264.00 and the other two are $138.00 a piece, plus labor) The motors all go bad. There isn't one that hasn't gone bad. The only remedy is a new motor....A new motor is $6000. Other than...

    Panel adhesive

We use 3M brand #8115. Good strong stuff and easy to work with. You'll need the applicator gun to apply it but I bet if you go into a bodyshop and ask them to borrow it for an evening, they'd probably let you. It's not hard to work with but you need to make sure you have clean, dry surfaces...

    Panel adhesive

Expert? Hardly! Cold up thar!! Wendy's folks are 3 hours north of Toronto. Nice country. They leave 8 feet of all the roadsides un-plowed for the snowmobiles. Very cool.

    Panel adhesive

Mike - Just in from a 700-mile road trip back from northern Ontario and I'm beat. I'll write more in the morning, but yes, panel bonding adhesive would be fine here.

    An all around handgun

+1. Find a 2" in stainless and you won't have to worry about it rusting on you.

    First deer with a bow

Forgive me for a bit of bragging but I'm pretty stoked about this deer. The season has been horrible in CT this year and is quickly coming to an end December 31st. There was a huge acorn crop and with all the warm weather most are packed in pretty deep and not moving anywhere. So far I've...

    Canadian Disco 2 Build

You're not getting full penetration on that weld. It's probably good enough for what you're doing but you need a lot more heat on that if you're trying to make a strong join.

To save the Disco II, or to let it go? Seeking advice from the Land Rover Gods.

I say don't spend another nickle on it. Take it south the way it is and take enough money to fly home. When it goes tits-up on you, pull the plates and buy a plane ticket.

    This years deer hunt

Nice doe. We're hoping to get up to the 'Toulin this summer on a trip out to Thunder Bay. Hunting has been SLOW around here this year. Too warm and a huge acorn crop has kept them planted and fed. Nothing moving at all. Got his one behind the house last week on (American) Thanksgiving with...

My Salisbury diff mesh pattern so far

Yeah, I agree with Musky on this one. Don't try to change the pattern on a used set of gear of they'll surely make noise. And I'd rather have gears a little loose than a little tight.
