    Random dog shots

This thread pops up at an interesting time. Unfortunately had to put my boy Zeke down this morning. Had a heck of a lot of adventures with him.

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

One of the best parts of these lightweight pop-ups. It’s still a truck and can haul full size sheet goods! Got the insulation started today. Went with 1” poly-iso board. Gonna knock out the top tomorrow.Probably gonna end up covering the insulation with thin luan plywood. Unless some else has...

FWC Project M, OVRLND Campers, and Vagabond Recent Orders/Wait Times

I was right about 9 months from deposit to pickup of my OVRLND in November. And that was with them moving shops mid build. Not sure what current lead times are.

    Four Wheel Camper ‘Project M’

Not sure. Looking at the their IG pics I’d be concerned about weakening it since the Mounting hardware runs through the shelf portion, which appears to be some kind of composite. Not saying composite is weak, but it has some limitations. Knowing how normal camper shell clamps loosen over time...

    Four Wheel Camper ‘Project M’

Totally agree on ease of swapping trucks benefit. Just cuts out a lot of interior room from what I can tell. My fridge and spare wouldn’t be able to live where I have em installed. I’m sure they’ll sell like hot cakes with lots of happy customers.

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

Next phase is building out a bench/storage in this area to house electrical/battery. Then once electrical is complete on to insulation which still don’t know what direction to go...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

Got my mattress in the other day. Went with a firm foam and marine vinyl. Vinyl is similar in color to my interior. Total bed size is 65x80 3” thick mattress. I do have extra bedding height built into the cab over and highly recommend the extra room. I should be able to leave sleeping bags up...

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

Its my understanding the ecotec family of motors was a whole re-design from the vortec motors. Aluminum block, direct injection etc etc. but I don’t know. They’re all V8s that get garbage mileage, and I’m ok w/ that! Sorry for the derail OP...

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

@Jnich77 I only know the difference since I’ve always owned GM trucks. Couldn’t tell ya what the heck are in our ford and dodge work trucks haha

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

I think you mean the 6.0. 6.2 is only available in half tons and totally different engine design. But I agree, the 6.0 is thirsty! And bulletproof.

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

Been happy with my 2014 Sierra 5.3. (Just rolled over 60k miles) I’m on 35s regeared to 4.56 and AFM disabled. OVRLND cab over camper. Truck says I averaged 14.6 MPG over 1500 miles on a lot of twisty up and down roads. I’m sure it’s less than that but im ok being lied too hah regearing and not...

Pop up styles: straight up, vs wedge, vs flip?

Especially when the vinyl cover is cold and have an uncooperative zipper. So glad to be done with that! I guess for my truck (Sierra 1500 5’8” bed) the wedge options weren’t what we were looking for would be more accurate. Have several nights in the OVRLND now and really don’t think we’d be as...

Pop up styles: straight up, vs wedge, vs flip?

We went with a straight pop top. Had a RTT and the flip over like the habitat/wildernest didn’t seem like much of an improvement in dealing with all the tent material and getting it all tucked back in. Especially when it’s wet. Wedges don’t offer the vertical room for someone to sit in the bed...

    2014 Sierra 1500 OVRLND camper

I got it through SCA (Southern comfort automotive). It’s the lowest profile one I could find with secure behind the bumper light mounting as well as being winch capable.

    Tips for Truck Camper

https://campovrlnd.com/ They’ll build the shell exactly how you want. Interior stuff will be on you. Quality construction. Full vertical walls for more interior space. No “shelf” cutting into the interior like the project M. Nearly king size bed(69”x80”) on my Sierra 1500.

    Truck Caps

I was very happy with my ARE CX with windoors for many years. Just kinda outgrew it. If I were to do a normal topper again I’d get one of the high rise ones for the extra headroom when sleeping. No matter what topper you get plan on fiddling with sealing around the tailgate. Lots of dust and...

It’s just my wife, dog and I. I’m sure it’ll never be finished, but I’m gonna try! Hah

    Four Wheel Camper ‘Project M’

Don’t like that they’re not really fitted to individual trucks and just use the “shelf” to adjust. Heard that they’re also using spacers on the cab side to adjust for differing lengths. Cool product, but OVRLND does it better IMO.
