This thing is quiet, smooth and has plenty of power. With about 40 miles of around town use so far with a five mile run up the expressway its showing over 22 mpg right off the bat. So far I'm pretty impressed. Its going to be a great road trip car with the engine turning about 1700 rpm at 70...
If it makes you feel any better I'll still have a Tdi Defender 90, a Series IIA diesel 109 station wagon and a petrol Series IIA 88" and a 1956 Porsche 356 Carrera.
I'm taking delivery of my new TD6 Discovery 5 tomorrow afternoon. Who out there is looking for an Expedition White 2007 LR3 HSE with 139k miles on it - it's going on the block next week.
Has anybody that has used Monstaliner applied it with a smooth roller instead of the textured roller they normally supply with the kit? I'm thinking of using it on my travel trailer that has a textured aluminum surface similar to what the Monstaliner looks like when its applied to a smooth surface.
Side by side size comparison of a 2007 LR3 and 2017 Discovery 5 plus a shot of the TDV6 engine - looks like there is enough room for the Ingenium inline 6 cylinder engine in there - lots of space between the front pulley and the radiator.
"Open up the Land Rover website and be presented with basically the same body shape across all models."
I noticed that as well along with the same trend among many other manufacturers - like why do the designers at Lexus think they have to stick the same ugly nose on the majority of their...
If the Range Rover Velar had a low range I'd seriously consider it. I need a tow vehicle so I've got my new D5 on order. I figure it will do 90 percent of what I need in a daily driver/road trip car and I'll still have the Defender and Series trucks for the fun stuff.
This way I can load the 88"...
Discovery 5 and Range Rover Sport share the chassis architecture - except the Discovery has heavier duty front suspension control arms.
The F-pace will share the chassis with the new Range Rover Velar and the Velar will also be available with the 4 cylinder Ingenium diesel engine.
Remember too...
White D5 with black roof rails, tow package and V-6 diesel. Very similar to what I have on order except for the saddle seats and the 21" wheels. For what I use my LR3 for now the new car will be very nice. I have the Defender and Series trucks for the real off-road work but with the D5 we can...
I sure wish I could be on one of those panels - I'd love to have some input on their products since I've been driving Land Rovers since 1972 and have a pretty good idea of what the customers for the next Defender will want. It was very cool to see all of the LR3s and LR4s at the Uwharrie event...
And on the way home we saw an Azalai camper in South Carolina - I've been lusting after an Azalai 130 Defender for around ten years - never seen one in person before. They are even cooler than I thought they were.

Default Pics from Uwharrie Safari 2017
The CROC annual Spring event at the Uwharrie National Forest was held this past weekend April 6-9 and it was a lot of fun as usual. Here are the pics:

Already ordered mine... Had to get the seven seat version to get the locking rear diff, ATPC, and advanced trailer backing system. I really only wanted a five seat version but since I'll be trading it in on a new Defender on a couple of years I figure it will be worth more as a trade that way.
