Haven't attacked the engine yet. Since it actually gets around OK on 5 cylinders I am attacking the camper bits to get it registered as an RV in AZ. But I am on the lookout for a donor vehicle with a low mileage Cummins. I was leaning towards the 450 HP ISL but now my thinking is a 2004 EPA ISC...
Come on Bob. Don't be vague about it. How about some specifics [emoji1]. And now I also know what went in the cabinet over the drivers side rear wheel.
The answer is yes but not really what I was spotlighting.
The "other" answer is what Pat suggested. It is a waterless P trap. Since we very...
We call them roo tacks. Beat them into the ground and chain them to a kangaroo's tail. Stops them jumping the fences and getting in with the females.
That one is 6' but you can order shorter and longer. I hadn't thought of a backboard but I was leaving them in place in case I picked up a belligerent drunk and needed to strap them in [emoji3]
Hmmm wonder how much room a backboard would take up.
As they sit. They are retractable lap belts and very well mounted. Last rig I changed them out for the non retractable as they were in the way. Now in the cab I will just be putting in an extra lap belt in the middle to go with the existing 3 point belts so I can carry 5 people in the front if...
Ok I am definitely getting better at this the more I practice. Started installing the sofa bed I. The back. 4 hours later and it's all done. Last time it took at least 4 days.
Same design as last time. The sofa sits a long way off the floor so that we could retain all the storage underneath...
Electric tools are fine for the little stuff and all I used for the Toyota's and Ford,s. but since the Freightliners come setup with engine driven compressors and lug nuts torqued to 450 - 500 ft lbs I carry a high dollar IR 1/2" rattle gun. The Dewalts etc do not go anywhere near breaking these...
I will 2nd this approach. Just grab a couple of tie down straps and put then around the frame where you are having the problems and see if it helps. Simple, cheap and easily done. If it doesn't help then you are down a few minutes of your time (reuse the tie down straps).
And yes I got caught...
Looking forward to seeing how this works out. One thing to keep an eye out for is that some ambo's have a peaked roof. The ones on both of my Freighliners (American La France Medic Master) have about a 3" (75 mm Canadian) rise that tapers from all 4 sides. Center line and about 3' (1 meter)...
Nah they will be OK over night. We are on acreage so a little way back from the road and I have been know to leave the old sidecar out overnight with the keys in it. :Wow1: But if I turn the outside lights off no one will even see them. (plus I would need to clear out enough space in the garage...
The truck delivered the sofa's today. Don't know how I am supposed to get them into the garage by myself. Hopefully they will still be there in the morning.
I did put in for both a round table on truck selection and another DIY Overland Rig class. Got notified over the weekend that something had been accepted, not sure which one or both yet. But my classes are not usually structured point by point lectures. So anyone with experience is welcome to...
Also from experience not science/physics theory. With the Cummins in your Dodge the bigger wheels will not be a problem accelerating but the issue will be with braking. If you are marginal with braking while using the camper it will suck big time going to bigger wheels.
This is based on going...
If you are still thinking MRAP wheels I would also suggest going with the alloy version of the MRAP wheels and saving about 60# per wheel. Then use your machined adapters and dually spacers to get them out far enough. If you are machining your own adapters you could just make a single piece...
Big Red gets the axles. Old Yella gets sold off to fund the insanity.
And the RV is a front and interior burn so I am suspecting not too many other spares.
