A group of Land Rovers were up at Tellico back in 2006 and we went up this dead end Forest Service road to the top of a mountain. On the way back out we came around a corner to fnd this tree had fallen over, completely blocking the trail. When asked if anyone had a chain saw Denny said "yeah ...
I had a 13" Boler (older version of the small Scamp) that I towed behind my short wheelbase Land Rover Defender. It weighed around 900 pounds and towed like a dream - I wouldn't go a whole lot bigger than that but the 13' fiberglass trailers should be OK - just make sure you have enough tongue...
I sent in my registration this afternoon - looking forward to another MAR by the James River. I've come every year since 1995 except for one (wife was going through chemo) and I've always had a great time. Let's hope the hurricanes don't screw it up this year and all enjoy a great weekend with...
Where's the info on the Uwharrie event - the Old North State website hasn't been updated since last year and we couldn't find any info on it last week.
I never seem to have the tripod handy when I need it - sometimes I have the monopod with me but mostly hand held for me - CS5 does a great job of merging photos - now if I would just remember Scott Kelby's trick of moving your feet instead of rotating your torso when taking the shots. His idea...

That looks like a great tire for my old Series Land Rovers - very reminiscent of one of my favorite tires of all time - the BFG Trac-Edge that was discontinued a few years ago.
Plus the 235-85R16 is a great size tire for old (and newer) Land Rovers - its what I use on my D-90, my old 109 and...
I'd use the flat plate style like I did - much more compact, lots of internal surface area and more efficient. I bought mine off Ebay for around $100.

Chad - really enjoyed talking to you at the Solaros meeting you attended. Your trailer design looks great and it looks like you're getting some great suggestions too. I like the idea of reversing the hinge side of the door - hinging it at the back edge would allow it to fly open if it came...
Camera RAW is a great tool - I've just started shooting RAW within the last year and I'm wondering what took me so long. It's like the old darkroom days where RAW is the negative and JPEG is the print - its a lot easier to manipulate your image from RAW if you screw up.
My camera shoots RAW +...
Here's a shot of my D-90 with a borrowed Maggiolina roof tent, my Hannibal awning and home built hot water shower on display at the Caffeine and Octane car show in Marietta GA
I'd put the table in a seperate case - maybe a big piece of 12" diameter PVC pipe with a removable end bolted to the roof rack. My aluminum table won't get hurt if it gets wet so I usually just strap it down between a couple of the 1600 series Pelicans I use for my other stuff. that way you...
I have a 1.5m Hanniabl on my D-90 - I'm not sure a 1.7 would fit. I've seen 1.7m on 110's.
On the other hand the 1.7m could probably be narrowed up a bit - the cross bar at the end is the only mechanical difference and a canvas shop could modify the cover so if its cheap enough - go for it.
I use my 24-70 F2.8L lens about 90% of the time - expensive but a great lens.
I'm shooting with a full frame 1DsMKII now so I really like the wide angle but it was a good choice on my 20D before I upgraded too.
Now I want a 17-40....photography - the hobby that never stops.
My setup - I used a flat plate style heat exchanger I sourced off Ebay for around $75, a Shurflo 2 gpm pump, a mixing shower head and various quick disconnect fittings and hose from Mcmaster-Carr, and a Pelican case I had lying around.
I figured I'd put the pump and plumbing distribution in...
Here's my snorkel fabricated from lengths of 3" diameter aluminum tubing tig welded together and topped with an engineair precleaner. We powder coated it black over the anodizing.
