We headed out last night and found a stellar campsite only half an hour from our house. Moab has gotten so busy that all of our old go-to campsites have been overrun. Now that we've got a new rig and camper, we're looking forward to getting farther out and finding a few hidden gems where we can...
Good question. I haven't delved into that topic enough to give you a good answer. Read a single blog post about re-gearing for better mileage and it got my wheels turning. If I do it, it's down the road.
We left Moab at around 1700 on Thursday and arrived in Jackson, Wyoming at noon on Friday. Three hours later, we had a Four Wheel Camper Raven in Betty's bed. Yes, the stoke is high. Very high.
We knew there was a weather front coming in but we didn't drive all the way to Jackson only to turn...
I had an FJ Cruiser w/ a winch and I ran it with a single battery - no issues. I never really ran it without the truck running, though.
I didn't consider a dual battery setup in the F150 because the camper we bought and are having installed on Friday(!) has it's own dual battery system, so the...
It's been a minute since I updated the thread. Ankle/foot surgery three weeks ago and I haven't been able to do much. BUT...got the air bags installed last Friday so thought I'd share the latest news on this build.
I went with Airlift 59570 airbags and a 25980 air compressor with Bluetooth...
I bought an F-150 in June and put the Husky X-Act floor liners in it. They've been great. Seems like a more pliable material than the Weathertech so they fit the contours better. Also bought a Weathertech windshield shade (since we live in the desert). It's custom cut to fit the F-150 and does a...
I don't, but I bought them directly from King. Give 'em a call and tell them what you're driving. They'll make sure they get you the right setup. I bought the coilovers w/ compression adjusters. I also installed Icon Delta Joint UCA's. I'm not getting any binding or clunking at all on or off road.
I've spent way too much time looking for sliders and I've found...one set. They're made by Smittybilt and even though they're bolt on (so the ones on my FJ and they took all kinds of abuse), they're supposed to be real, honest to God sliders. I wanted some that could also be used as a side step...
That makes two of us! We used to travel together in an FJ Cruiser w/ a roof top tent so the FWC on an F-150 should be downright luxurious by comparison. ;-)
None. When I bought the truck it had smaller BFG AT's and a leveling kit. The first thing I did was replace the stock wheels and tires with the Method's and Nittos. I drove it that way for about a month before installing the suspension lift. I didn't notice any difference in the ride quality...
They offered to re-valve them. Before we do that, we're going to crank the coils down about 1/2", as they're currently set at around 2 1/2" of lift, which is close to the max. That should soften them up a little bit. I'll then give it a couple thousand miles to see how it goes.
We took Betty out for her first real post-suspension upgrade adventure and ran a couple trails in Colorado's San Juan Mountains. I've done just about everything over there in either a Tacoma or FJ Cruiser, and we spend a lot of time hiking and mountain biking those mountains, so it felt like as...
And now for the really good, exciting stuff...suspension!
I ordered King coilovers with compression adjusters for the front, Icon Delta Joint upper control arms and a set of Bilstein 5160 remote reservoir shocks for the rear. All of it's getting installed tomorrow and I'll post more photos...
We're back from a long road trip to the incredible Pacific Northwest and several items I ordered for Betty had arrived so I thought I'd post up a little update.
Since it's hotter than Hades in Moab these days (and every summer) I ordered a Weathertech SunShade window shade to keep some of the...
