My No-Weld Trailer project - Sort of

rivnuts should be rather good for sheer forces, plus nuts are designed for any pulling forces.. or go overboard and drill all the way through and double nut it on both sides. I'm holding my 325W folding solar with an M10 Rivnut in the frame tubing but I drilled all the way thru and put a full...

    Solar charging the starter battery

yep, its like a battery.. treat it always hot, but you can throw a big blanket over it when you go to crimp the terminals so any output if any would be negligible. it always being hot is what will cause accelerated corrosion on the andersons.

    Solar charging the starter battery

not really.. toss one of those rubber dust boots on the Anderson and perhaps some dielectric grease to keep those hot wires from corroding.

    Solar charging the starter battery

yeah, that's perfectly fine.. the safest way to disconnect solar is panel first then the controller, if you drop all the loads off the controller first you could get a bad voltage spike.

    Mobile Internet

derail away, you are greatly overestimating the visibility of these.. If your watching shooting stars, gazing at the milky way, you will not see any satellites because they will be in the eclipse of the earth, they do not create light, only reflect it.. so satellites only flare-up to those...

    Mobile Internet

3-4 years is the maximum time they can keep em up before they run out of fuel and gotta de-orbit, they are low enough altitude there's plenty of drag that would be the max time if the box just went dumb w/no control. they can always send them down early if they are ready to be replaced, I...

    Mobile Internet

No place in the world has been out of comms reach for a very long time, Sat Phones and HF Ham have been around for a very long time. If you want to go silent, devices still have power buttons you can turn them off. I'm meh on the "destroying the night's sky" nonsense, and I'm a huge astronomy...

Efficient 12 Volt Cabin Air Filtration (WILDFIRES!)

considering they are designed to attach to a 700cfm axial fan and run for 6mo+ solid w/out being touched.. Then when its tapped out you empty it, then bake the carbon in the oven to re-activate it.. I think you underestimate its scrubbing capabilities... Here in Colorado, we subject commercial...

Do people really take their off-road teardrops through gnarly trails?

the problems big trailers have PDQ are attack and departure angles, things like ditches and big ledges stop my 20ft trailer.. I'm needing bridges to flatten out some of those harsh washouts so my tongue dont scrape crawling down into it and dragging the tail back up the other side.. short...

Accessory system wired hot versus ignition-controlled

Victron Smart Battery Protect on a always hot circuit if you dont have a dual battery setup, but a dual battery would be the best way.. you say 12v cooler and not compressor fridge, so I'm thinking your power loads are going to be significantly higher than you are planning on as those 12 coolers...

Yeah google DIY Cabon Filter, tons of small scale closet pot growers have built exactly what your looking for with a couple pen holders, panty hose and aquarium carbon.. but for 12v you'll wanna use like a Marine Bilge Blower set it up scrub the air, try to seal up as good as you can and run...

    Thoughts on No Boundaries

The InTech Discover is back, with the indoor kitchen all you gotta do is get a propex/wave heater, and some cots and a instead of folding out the beds and it'll do great in all 4 seasons..
