your good to go, you just want it charged fully because its probably not after sitting on shelf.. and you needa calibrate your BMV
The BMV does its best to calculate what the battery's true SOC is, it does this by measuring how much you take out/put in after telling it its completely full...
think hes talking about the drive, not the camp.. how long you camping for?
Charging the new battery to full before you leave and as soon as you get back is about all you can do at this point.
I dont think a full capacity test every once and a few hundred cycles is all that detrimental as long its recharged promptly, if you wanna be a lil conservative mebe 95% and stop,
if you find the capacity is down 20% or so right off the shelf you can usually exchange it, no hassle, no questions...
note its resting voltage before hooking it up to the charger, leave it on the charger overnight.. when you get back, charge it up and let it sit for 24h w/no load to see its resting voltage.. then perhaps do a capacity test on it, drain it down to empty monitoring how much AH you get out, then...
All the above are just cheap grade AGM, none are built for the long haul.. cheapest one wins because over time it'll cost the least to operate.. for your usage, your unlikely to see any performance differences between Sams Duracel, BP Ultra Duracel or Renology AGM, tho that vMax was not a normal...
chargers w/temp compensation raise voltage as it gets colder, and lower it as it gets hotter.. if its on a maintenance charge, under volting it wont be anything to worry about.
they just become weak at both inputing and outputting current when they are damn cold, the'll come back to normal once...
it lists AH specs which you never get off a starter battery, and they both weigh about the same.. the vmax has a few lbs on the Duracel indicating its got a bit more lead in it for the same AH.. but not enough to make me buy the vmax.. if the duracel was like 15lbs lighter than the vmax mebe I'd...
lets see, Duracel.. a company thats been arround since 1920.. or vMax that looks like a big MultiLevel Marketing scheme.. do they throw in some free essential oils with purchase? Proabibly need some crystals too so you can align the shakra of the batteries.
You checked out your local supplies? Buying big lead batteries on the internet is not a great idea.. your paying a ton in shipping, your not getting a core deposit, and you wont be able to warranty it if it costs more to ship it back than you bought it for.
you can put a webasto/espar style diesel water heater up to the oil cooler coolant lines and you can get warm starts w/out the need for an electrical hookup.. its not cheap tho, but having defrost instantly is very nice.
You are jumping wrong, grounding it to engine is a better path to the...
your not dismissed from school yet, sit back down.. Fear can be cured with knowledge, and it seems you still have some unreasonable fears..
do you never do any maintenance to your trailer? never winterize it, never check tires, never check bearings? whats adding a little water every once and a...
you could try but I doubt you'd get anywhere with warranty, the'll claim neglect/user error.. which would is often not covered, if you bought it at a battery store locally you could probably get a pro-rating on another one.. if you got it off the internet your going to loose money if you have to...
IMO AGM's are the least suitable for recreational house use for most here, given the cost and short life span in these rather hodgepodge minimalistic setups.. Its nearly impossible for most to reap the benefits of agm in a boondocking setup, you are far more likely to expose their weaknesses...
ouch, yeah thats not looking good.. is this the 100AH Renology (cheap) AGM? if so I dont know if there is much more you can do.. its dropping dead w/16AH outta it.
Check all your connections just to make sure its not user error.. if this was flooded you could do a few things to try to...
Here is a good illustration showing charging the same battery with both 42A and 21A.. your alternator is going to be more like the 42A profile.

i should have been a little more clear, it wants 6-8h uninterrupted to charge.. if you stop it mid absorb, then start it again the next day its going to take longer than that.. hence the need for a real overnight charge uninterrupted until the charger gets to a float state.
a bunch of commuting...
