Henry_G, My friend Walt ran a Kukenam on his 2015 Tacoma with a Leer cap for him and his girlfriend. Plenty of room for them (they're not big by sny means) and the cap held up just fine.

Ask your local fabric shop, they'll have the perfect answer to your zipper woes. There is a fancy dry graphite type of "lube" that'll change the zipper pulling force. However, sometimes the zipper "pull" is actually the culprit, and your local fabric shop can replace this. Worst case you get a...

IMHO, you're going to want the tent as close to the roof as possible. Start designing the rear swing-out you wanted to mount the tire, shovel, Hi-Lift, etc to. To have nearly 300+ lbs up on your roof is probably not the safe and if you're using the stock mounting locations for the original rack...
