My wife has been begging for a trip from northern New York up to Maine but I want to make it a camping trip. The plan would be to bring the 2wd suburban and not the XJ for space sake and mpg. If love to know some scenic, remote but 2wd accessible locations.

My beagle loves camping and offroading. I have to keep him on a leash or tie out most of the time though or he would put his nose to the ground and follow it till the end of the earth. I'm subscribing to this thread for sure though because I'm always looking for some good tips for traveling...

I should mention that added a piece of angle iron to the edge of the tailgate to give it done real rigidness on the edge opposite the hinge.
That also doors a good job of hiding any imperfections :D in the edge of the wood that I cut freehand since I don't have a table saw (yet).

And actually the one I went with has the triangle mounting on both sides. Then I used 3/4" " x 5/16" stainless steel bolts and T-nuts. The t-nuts turned out to be a great idea because they have plenty of threads to grab and they...
I live that area! About 7 years ago, I very nearly bought a 40 acre homestead there with some post-deployment money. I should have done it.
