    Tundra vs F150

Your F-150 already has 200k miles on the odometer? There was an interview (Truck Show Podcast hosted by MotorTrend) where a Ford engineer confirmed that, unlike the Super Duty's, the F-150 has an approximate service life of 10 years/100k miles...I don't think he meant that the truck would all...

    Tundra vs F150

Typo in my post which you referenced: meant to say "hasn't caused" instead of "has caused." That aside, I agree with the above. The Tundra is relying on an old platform at this point; some people see that as a huge negative while others see it as a positive. And again, I'll point out that the...

    Tundra vs F150

The point I'm making is that those other 1/2 ton trucks, have brakes, axles, rear differentials, trailer hitches and gearing that are the same or, in some cases, inferior to those of the Tundra, despite having higher tow and payload ratings. The other OEM's are of the mind to push for higher...

    Tundra vs F150

A lot of those features were offered starting in 2016, which quite honestly is line with how the rest of the 1/2 ton market was progressing at that point. Some of the other OEM's still don't offer the above features (38 gallon tank, adjustable headlights). So you're going to complain that the...

    Tundra vs F150

Did the 2007 have: center-screen backup camera, smart braking technology, blind-spot monitoring, 38 gallon tank, integrated trailer-brake controller, adjustable headlights, heated & leather seats? The underlying platform is old, but I do think you're refusing to acknowledge that...

    Coyote(s) with mange....what to do?

Actually, the main reason coyotes spread out of the southwestern part of North America into other areas is because the wolves were eradicated in those other areas; coyotes simply moved in to assume that predatory role. Farmers/ranchers have historically had a very antagonistic view of coyotes...

    Tundra vs F150

Yeah, I agree. I just don't get why so many "complain" about the Tundra's supposed inferiority due to old and stale technology. 1) The refreshed Tundra's interior isn't vastly different in terms of tech/features and build quality compared to the other brands. In fact, I think the Tundra's...

Should it stay or should it go?

Bud, I know what the PW's ratings are. It's a 3/4 ton. The F-150 HD is not. If you had even taken one look at the underlying chassis for each truck, you wouldn't have bothered with this rabbit hole you're currently going down.

    Tundra vs F150

Well just for the record, there have been long term tests of sorts (reliability and resale value). The Tundra has consistently been a top performer in both categories according to any number of media and auto analyst groups. The F-150 isn't a bad truck. The Tundra isn't indestructible...

Should it stay or should it go?

The PW is a 3/4 ton truck with down-rated payload/towing due to tweaked chassis components. The F-150 HD is a 1/2 ton trying to get into 3/4 ton territory. The simple fact is Ford makes very few changes to the F-150 HD (suspension retuning, frame modifications are what come to mind). Just...

Should it stay or should it go?

F-150 HD is rated higher, but keep in mind that truck uses the same brakes, engine, transmission, axles and mostly the same chassis components as the regular GVWR F-150. Ford perhaps markets their F-150 for certain towing/payload capabilities, but when the rubber meets the road, there are...

Should it stay or should it go?

Well if you're contemplating putting 37's or larger on a F-450, then I think it's safe to say that cost and fuel efficiency aren't top concerns for you. The new 2019 Ram looks okay, but honestly nothing ground-breaking...except for the CGI engine material, it's basically the same truck with a...

Should it stay or should it go?

The PW is capable, no one will argue otherwise. It's a hog on fuel though, especially when it is put to work. If you're already somewhat underwhelmed by the 4runner's fuel efficiency, I don't see you being happy with the PW's. I really encourage you to go read some of the magazine reviews and...

Should it stay or should it go?

2x 100lb dogs seals the deal for me: get another vehicle. I have only 1x 100lb dog (albeit one that sheds a lot) and I usually travel solo...the 4runnner is adequate in terms of space, but I've pretty much destroyed my rear storage area (or rather my dog has) since any kind of outdoor...

    Increasing Power Wagon payload

I think part of the reason for the debate on this thread is that some people argue that there is no true way to replicate OEM engineering and modify vehicles to accept higher payloads...at least not with the "anything-goes" aftermarket in the US and Canada. In Australia, there are GVWR...

    Increasing Power Wagon payload

GVWR = basic vehicle weight + payload. So the two are related.

    Increasing Power Wagon payload

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree....OEM engineers, generally-speaking, do a far better and more thorough job of designing and building components that will last for the longterm as compared to aftermarket shops. That and in the particular case of adding lockers, drilling into the axle...

    Increasing Power Wagon payload

$1200 for the locker alone. You also need to account for all the labor (wiring, air lines and compressor depending upon the variant) and there is some drilling into the axle housing....that's neither cheap nor easy. I know there are aftermarket swaybars and suspension components that can...

    Increasing Power Wagon payload

Again, I'll point out that while all modifications affect OEM performance to some degree, that degree isn't the same across the board. Lifting your vehicle 1-2" does not have the same impact as does going over GVWR by 300-500lbs (which many people are guilty of in the offroad community).

    Increasing Power Wagon payload

Well firstly, I don't know what you mean by "void." Do you mean that the warranty covering said items is void? If so, that isn't necessarily the case. Or do you mean that the design parameters associated with said items are void? Well certainly your vehicle's performance and crash...
