    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Lol, I'm sure there are some who have that type of commute, and they can probably achieve the EPA ratings on a regular basis. But there are also a lot of people who drive +75mph on the highway, blasting A/C and radio, running oversized tires with inaccurate odometers who like to get on forums...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

In fairness to TFL, they did take the time to explain how the EPA ratings work and the factors that were likely working against the Ranger's efficiency (cold weather, driving speed, grade, ect.). So I don't think there was any intellectual dishonesty on their part. I think the problem lies not...

    Cross country trip rifle?

I'm pretty sure some states (to include IL) won't allow out-of-state handguns without the proper permitting. If you're doing a lot of interstate travel, I would leave the handgun at home and bring a shotgun or bolt-action rifle purely for reasons of legality.

Is Mountain Biking the Biggest Threat to New Wilderness Designations?

I just find it interesting that you're so willing to condemn and broadstroke one group of public land users (ranchers) but then vigorously defend another group (mountain bikers). By your own admission, you have no idea what ranchers have to go through in order to stay financially viable in...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

The winter blend gasoline only accounts for so much of a mpg hit. 80mph accounts for a little bit too. Colder (more dense air) does too. None of those factors account for huge mpg hits, but they all add up. So I certainly agree that this TFL mpg test is not necessarily indicative of overall...

    Tex's '18 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro build

What kind of driving are you planning on doing? Unless you're paying a visit to the local offroad park every weekend, the stock skid plates do exceptionally well at handling abuse and protecting the chassis and drivetrain. Yes, they'll get banged up and dented a bit more quickly than the heavy...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

In terms of torque, these turbo gasoline engines certainly have their virtues. The thing of it is, if you actually want to use that torque mpg's will plummet. I think for someone who wants a truck, but doesn't actually need to be carrying/towing around gear 24/7, these ecoboost engines could...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Is anyone really surprised by these results? Everyone talked about and hyped up the F-150 ecoboost claiming that it change the 1/2 ton market by offering substantially better fuel economy...real world results proved otherwise. Everyone talked up the Ranger ecoboost, some even claiming that it...

Is Mountain Biking the Biggest Threat to New Wilderness Designations?

I really don't give a crap what you're buying...I'm pointing out that you're criticizing a group as whole even though you seem to have no understanding of this issue from their perspective. Some land, somewhere needs to be set aside for cultivating food...at a certain subconscious level we all...

Is Mountain Biking the Biggest Threat to New Wilderness Designations?

I don't think that's how it works. Ranchers can't get permission to go into and graze any piece of wilderness that they choose. I'm aware of the historical allotments, but how common are they on wilderness as opposed to National Forests and other designated lands? As was already pointed out...

Is Mountain Biking the Biggest Threat to New Wilderness Designations?

How much big W wilderness is truly open to livestock grazing? I'm genuinely curious. I had always thought that the majority of grazing rights took place on federal or state land that had a lesser designation (National Forests, BLM, ect.). As for letting animal compete naturally....for better...

    Clutch’s deep thoughts thread...

Based on what I've seen so far of the new JL platform, I don't have high expectations for the Gladiator. FCA's quality control just isn't where it needs to be with some of their vehicles. But of course until their sales #'s start to suffer, that's not going to change. GM's gasoline engine...

    Clutch’s deep thoughts thread...

Drum brakes, c-channel frame, cramped quarters....yeah the Tacoma hasn't changed a whole lot, but I could honestly live with those "drawbacks," and honestly its debatable how much some of those really qualify as "drawbacks." Even the payload, as neutered as it is compared to some of the other...

    Clutch’s deep thoughts thread...

I don't know...the newer Tacoma's aren't bad per se. They're definitely made to a price point, but you're getting a very solid vehicle for that price point. I'm not a fan of the new 3.5l v6, but that aside the new Tacoma seems just as capable and reliable as the older ones. The Tundra is...

Most affordable, fuel efficient 4x4 set up

Cost-wise I agree; a small mpg discrepancy matters very little over short and even long term ownership. Range-wise I'd say mpg is somewhat relevant to people on this forum. But once you get to a certain fuel tank size (+30 gallons), you can easily start to compensate for subpar mpg's by adding...

Titan spare tire replacement fuel tank

~820 miles of range (taking out a few gallons for reserve)...that's pretty awesome, especially if you're looking to be selective on where you get your fuel from. I'm glad the installation worked out so well. Mounting the fuel filler on the inside of the bed seems like a smart move. I'd be...

2018 Ram 3500 G56 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

What's your gearing with those 37's? 17mpg highway is pretty decent, all things considered. Lol, my 4runner doesn't get much better driving on the highway during the winter season.

    Clutch’s deep thoughts thread...

Maybe if you get it to 600k miles, you can convince Toyota to give you a factory-refurbished T-100, kind of like that guy with the million mile Tundra.

Most affordable, fuel efficient 4x4 set up

I don't think anyone is scared of turbo's on a gasoline engine, but they undoubtedly add complexity over a naturally-aspirated engine. Plenty of people said the same thing when OEM's started introducing turbo's to the diesel engines...yes turbo-diesels have gotten a lot more reliable over the...

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

I totally agree..I would prefer a larger factory fuel tank over having to store jerry cans in the bed for the same reasons you bring up. But if the end-user wants to increase the fuel capacity, adding a few jerry cans to the bed is a lot easier and cheaper than going with an aftermarket...
