Great question you have asked, my suggestion would be to leave in plugged into mains power all the time this way the smart charging system maintains the battery and will also extend the battery life during the colder winter months you experience. the Ark Pak will test the battery...

just wanted to make sure my colleagues Martin and Mark explained to you that you can take the battery down to 11V olts as a safety the Ark Pak cust out at 10.5 volts as below this its a kill zone for a battery

from my understanding you meet my colleagues Martin and Mark at the 4x4 expo and they explained to you that you can go all the way down to 11.0 volts with your deep cycle battery.

Thanks for the update on your Ark Pak i have double checked with Exide Australia and i can now give an update the XMC-31 which is sold in Australia is rated to 120AMP Hours but the XMC 31 which is solid in the USA only has a 100 AMP rating the answer was given is Australia does not...

yes you could do this the only thing you would need to do is change the settings when you start the Ark Pak up, you would need to tell the Ark Pak you have installed a new battery and confirm its battery type and AMP hour ratting once this is done the Ark Pak will go into a testing...

great reply and just to expand on it if your unit peaks at 14.1 volts in the boost cycle which is stage 4, this means you have a gel battery in it and when fully charged at 100% should read approx 12.5v to 12.8v

you should refer to page 4 of your instruction manual and it should say the below listed comments
14.5v (wet)
14.1v (gel)
14.5v (AGM)
14.9v (Calcium)
these are max voltage the above battery types will reach during a boost cycle not what the resting voltage is resting voltage at 100%...

we have that exact battery here at Ark HQ and if it is the XMC-31 i can confirm this is a 120AMP Hour battery capacity it can take a beating very strong and solid battery, from personal experience field testing with the XMC-31 it lasted 11 days and 7 hours charging a 40 engel fridge...
