    AEV's MILSPEC Jeep J8 DOA?

While probably true, no normal buyer would be interested in a Dana 60 setup or J8 for that matter.

Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

I agree that the overland / offroad forums have been pushing for diesels, that is clear. What I don't know is if the general market is clamoring for them. Like the above article states, I think use consumers look more to the hybrids and electric as the answer. Does anyone know how much the...

Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

This is a very good point. I fully agree that the energy business is a high investment business, and also does have a large risk / reward profile.

Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

Of course it is, and if you read my earlier posts you will see that I am a capitalist and believe strongly in free markets. Profit is what drives innovation and efficiency. But when a corporation has you over a barrel and is swimming in money I don't have to like it. I also hate paying taxes...

and yet they are extremely profitable! I threw out the only numbers that matter, total profit. Are any of you truly trying to say that the oil companies are struggling in any way shape or form?

Diesel in a Jeep again...not the wrangler

I truly hope that you are being sarcastic. ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, and Shell posted a combined $18.2 billion in first quarter profits — a 40 percent increase over their profits in the first quarter of 2010. BP, hampered by financial responsibilities due to last year's oil spill...

    RIP HappyCurmudgeon

Yes I saw this on JK-Forum last night, thank you for bringing this up here as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. I was always so astonished how open and public he was about his very personal battle. He was a stronger man than I am. May he now rest in peace.

400 orders placed for Wrangler pickup conversion kits

I think the offroad crowd, and specifically overlanders are yelling for a diesel. I want one for sure. But I don't think the general market is calling for them. I think the smelly, noisy stigma of the 80's Mercedes is still around. And stated above the higher price tag of diesel isn't helping. I...
