Stainless Steel trailer turned Earthroamer..?

If memory serves, he and his wife made Cuba (from Florida) before turning back and getting divorced. Turned out his vehicle wasn't the weakest link in his plans. Unfortunate. Really interesting concept though.

    Winch Extension question

If the primary difference is that synthetic stretches less than steel, having a steel extension in your system when using synthetic rope on your drum can't be any more dangerous than using a steel extension. As long as the MBS appropriately matches across all your gear, and it exceeds your...

    Crossing the Andes

Spent a month kicking around in Chile a few years ago - Santiago, Valpariso, San Pedro De Atacama, Parque Nacional Torres Del Paine. Your pictures are really making me nostalgic. One of the best experiences I've ever had in a foreign country - and it kept up for a month. Loved the "outdoor...

    How to hydro-lock an XJ!

I keep getting asked about the snorkel on my truck and I tell people it's not because I take the truck into deep water, but because by the time you found out you need one, it's too late. One bad bounce, one unseen hole in the water and you've heaped a bunch of work on yourself. Money well...

WANTED: Tacoma 16x7 steel spare wheel

    Exped Storage Boxes

We need to buy a few and setup a mold and manufacturer (after improving the latches) and start making them here. There is a lack of quality boxes at the price point between Pelican cases and Walmart.

    Exped Storage Boxes

I like those Wolf boxes but don't seem to be able to find them stateside. Even Slee (posted earlier in the thread) doesn't appear to have them on the site anymore. Anyone know where they can be had?

    New Product - TRASHAROO!

I have to say I had been eyeballing these type of bags since my first copy of Australian 4WD Magazine. Received mine yesterday. All the straps are stoutly sewn to the bag and the bag itself appears to be high quality. Nice job Dave.

Not to hijack a thread, but - HB 4x4, were those shots taken recently? Is the road open again all the way up Saddleback?

    Africa Water Purification

The human portion of this equation must be nearly intractable as engineering solutions seem to abound. Even in the developed world the biggest problem with any solution always seems to come down to the people. There are a few posts here that have been real eye-openers in terms of why things...

    Toilet In a Box

Very cool idea, and one heckuva lot cheaper than the PETT. Though, it would really suck to have this happen to you while using it

    Africa Water Purification

Whatever happened to Dean Kamen's water purification system (Slingshot)? He had come up with a system that used a Sterling engine (powered by anything that would burn) to generate power and then a water filtration system that used the waste heat from the sterling engine to essentially boil...

Lowrance BAJA GPS - How do you use it?

Map stich points off Have any of you experienced any inaccurate data in the 540c? What I'm talking about is where you will cross from one grid to another and line at which the two maps are stichted together is off. A great example is on the Eastern end of the Mojave trail, as you cross under...

Overlander Interview - Pierre & Annie Régior

Location That looks a lot like Puerto Natales if you ask me. :) Brings back awesome (if quite windy) memories of a week-long stroll along the "W" route in the middle of August. There's just no place like Chile. No place at all. Doug, these interviews and photos are killing me. You're...

Tell me what you know about Lightforce filters

I've got a pair of 240s on my front bumper with one clear spot filter and one amber combo filter. Love the setup. The spot provides enough projection that I can see far enough down the road that I can see for a few hundred yards and the amber combo filter widens out the close-up light...
