BED UPDATE: I've gotten quite a bit done to the bed. The pic below is of the front underbed box behind the driver. It has the DC distribution for the two air compressors, compartment lights, camper interface and a few other things. The blue box is a Victron Smart Battery Protect, which is...

We definitely need to hook up at some point and hit some trails. I'm almost ready. I've got to put some bumpstops on the rear this weekend to keep the tires from rubbing the bed fenders if the airbags go out, and need to do a little more suspension tweaking in front so I can turn the wheels lock...

Thanks man! Dimensionally it seems to be okay. I haven't noticed that the bed is warped/tilted or out of square. I will say the boxes are nicely welded. I'm guessing the senior guys work their way over to that department where the welding is easier and all done at waist height, on a table, etc...

This is the resistor/dummy plug trick. I used one of these resistors in place of each fog light. The resistor pulls just enough current from the truck to make it think the fog light is still there. No codes. Note that the minimum current the truck wants to see depends on the kind of fog light...

ALUM-LINE BED I've got to say a few words about this Alum-Line bed. Dealing with them was a nightmare right from the very first phone call. His first words were, "Oh gawd, you're another one of those damn camper people..." Apparently our crowd likes to make lots of changes and is a general pain...

A 330 Ohm 5 Watt resistor keeps the codes away... :) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RS4SJVT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I just gave up and wired my fogs to an upfitter switch.

Good question. As you know, there's lots of opinions out there on how best to do it. Alot of it comes down to just how "offroadable" you want your rig to be. I just want it to handle dirt roads, washboard and the occasional slow rocky section. So for me, spring mounting seemed like a good...

Thanks man. Who knows if I'll ever use the rear winch, but it makes me feel more comfortable knowing it's there.

Alum-Line is done with the bed! I placed the order Oct 23rd, but I think it only took them a few days to build it. It may arrive here as early as next week. With regard to the mounting, I'm going to do a rigid shear plate in the rear, two sets of spring mounts in the middle and then a slider up...

Sorry. I was replying to @Trikebubble. Seats are fine. Just saying the steering wheel needs to be further away from the pedals, imo. Maybe it's my long legs and dinosaur arms. Everyone will be different.

I'm afraid you're going to suffer like me. I'm 6'0" and have the same 5500. The steering wheel is too close to the pedals so you can't straighten out your legs comfortably. When I move the seat to make my arms comfortable, my legs are jammed in there. The ergonomics are either geared for shorter...

Buckstop Aluminum Skid Plates: I finally got around to putting these on. Here are some pics so you can see what they look like. The transmission/transfer case plate had a cutout for the exhaust that had to be enlarged by 1/2". It also touched the transmission fluid lines and didn't have much...

That's great news! Welcome to the club sir. I've been trying to make note of some things I would do differently during the build so others don't have to make the same mistakes as I did. Or sometimes, it's just about posting pics and information you can't find anywhere else. Either way, you'll...

Also got the center console GPS/Phone mount installed. I wanted a way to mount all my gadgets without using a bunch of ugly/clunky brackets screwed into everything. The goal was to build something super sturdy that looked clean and unobtrusive. I think I nailed it. This was made from 1/2" DOM...

I got the bumper back from powdercoat and it looks AWESOME! The powdercoat guy matched the Buckstop bumper perfectly and everything fit like a glove. It's super satisfying to see my design go from a sketch to CAD to reality.

Dang, and here I was thinking I came up with something innovative! Thanks for letting me know about this. He's using some neat lock on air chucks that I hadn't seen before. I'll look into getting some of those.

Yep, took your advice and used the factory sensors in the new rims. I am not using the two inside rear dually sensors so I do get that error message you see too. I need to dig around in AlphaOBD to see if there is a setting to get rid of that. I noticed the valve stems on the rears are pretty...
