2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Last weekend was the Northwest Overland Rally in Plain, WA. I was able to attend just Saturday, and wanted to see what the rally was all about. I didn't camp at the rally on Friday, camping instead with some friends. I'm loving the swing arm and table set up: I'm not a chef, but I tried my...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Out of curiosity I climbed under the truck and checked the torque on all the cam bolts. Factory spec is 96 ft/lbs. The driver's front cam bolt was pretty loose. Took a few turns to crank it down (hard to do under the truck!). I haven't heard the popping and snapping all day....that's a good...

Tell me more about how you set up your fan and aftermarket cooler. I have the factory cooler and it does okay, but I'd like to have the ability to flip an aux fan on to drop the temps faster. On the trails I'll hit close to 200 when constantly going uphill.

Love it! So much travel for an IFS truck.

If you're using OEM adjusters, do they come with the bolt or do you need to get that separate? EDIT*** Also, do you guys have part numbers? I'm looking through the diagrams and am getting conflicting information from several sources.

So what are you going with? SPC adjusters? If I swap out the adjusters/bolts will I also need to replace the bushings? They are new....hopefully the right parts for the truck.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I assumed the OEM parts were one unit....the sleeve and the large adjustment washer. I'm not sure, but I think they are separate like the SPC ones I linked to. Just so everyone is aware of what my concerns are with my cam bolts, here's what they look like. Outside ends of both front and rear...

Nice work on cleaning up the frame. I should pull off my bed to get the top of the rails but my bed bolts are pretty stuck. I'm jealous of the LT kit as well. I would love to have something like that but I think it would make my track width too wide for some of the trails around here.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

That's certainly possible, but this sound came about recently. My TRE's were replaced over 2 years ago, and my cam bolts were replaced last year. It wasn't making the noise before the cam bolts, but it also wasn't making it immediately afterward. It could be the coils but those have been on...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

That's good thought, but my sway bar has been disconnected for a couple years now. It wasn't popping like this last time I hit the trails (last year). I'm leaning towards incorrect (too short) front cam bolts, tie rods, or possibly driver's side lower shock mounting bolt (it's OEM, but I've...

Shoot me a PM next time you're looking at doing something around Ellensburg. Manastash is awesome. I'm going to try out some of the places in Liberty next. My truck has no business being on some of the trails over there, but I believe there are a few that aren't considered to be rock crawlers...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I had an enjoyable overnight trip with my daughters, while my wife got some quiet time with the two baby boys at home. We camped in the Manastash area of the Wenatchee National Forest, near Ellensburg, WA. The swing out rear worked great! The next morning we got up early and packed...

    Trailscape's 06 Tundra

I should have done Toyota OEM on my tie rods when I did them a couple years back. I have some occasional "popping/snapping" from my driver's side when I first start moving and I'm suspecting tie rods. Shouldn't be my LBJ's, as those are new OEM as of two years ago (less than 15K miles). I...

Nice work on the rack and solar panel. If you use that box, is it small enough to fit lengthwise with the handle pointing to the sides of the truck? Otherwise I'm not sure how easily you'll be able to reach the handles.

Anyone else going to NW Overland Rally next week? I'll be there for Saturday. Not sure what classes I'm going to take yet or if I want to try to get signed up for a trail run. Hopefully I get to meet a few of you there.

    2004 Tundra Adventure Cab - Build/Adventure Thread

I want this. I've been putting it off for a while, but I lost one of my factory bump stops so I've been trying hard not to bottom out. I'd have much more piece of mind with these.

High Clearance Rear Bumper Install (Part 2) With the cuts made and cleaned up, I mounted the bumper and torqued the mounting bolts down to spec. The second phase is getting everything set up for the swing arm. The first step to mounting the swing arm is getting the bearings ready. I used...

High Clearance Rear Bumper Install (Part 1) Purpose: Install a Brute Force Fabrication high-clearance rear bumper with single swing out. This will improve exit angle, protect the rear of the truck from drops, and provide a much better way to store the full-size spare and water, so that I can...
